I thought my Dad’s brothers were the only ones who gave the dreaded whisker rub. When I was little my reaction to the mention of a whisker rub was to run away giggling. When I was close to being caught the giggles turned to a squeal, twas a noisy game.
Yesterday my Dad told us “ My Grandfather Isaac was a fun loving guy. He would chase us kids down and rub his beard on our faces.”
I get them all the time from my guy! They do tickle, don't they? :-)
ReplyDeleteMy Dad used to do that all of the time. Great memories.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Aha! Runs in the family--LOL! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat memories!
ReplyDeleteMy husband wore a full beard for several years, and our youngest was about 2 when he shaved it off. She had never seen him without that red beard and was terrified of the strange man with daddy's voice. I wonder if they have memories of his whisker rubs?
ReplyDeleteYes, there were whisker rubs but looking back don't they seem to be a bit mean.
ReplyDeleteEwww, fun but my hubby has whiskers and I prefer them nice and soft. It is nicer that way and he still gives them!
ReplyDeleteHe looks like a kind grandfather with a sense of humor! My uncles were big teases but fun.
ReplyDeleteWhiskers on a face are yuck and annoying but yeah can be fun as well when the victim is a child
ReplyDeleteWhen I started going out with the Chef his beard was so scrubby but I sorted that by making him use conditioner
ReplyDeleteMy husband and also our youngest son have full beards. My son's is very bushy... I wonder if he's thought of using conditioner or if his partner doesn't mind whisker burn.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beard that would give you quite a whisker rub! I always wonder how men can stand all that on their faces in the summer. It would drive me nuts!
ReplyDeleteMy dad used to do that! We dreaded it too!
