In October of 1990 Far Guy’s parents were married 50 years.
The gathering to celebrate their Golden Anniversary was held in what used to be a school/community center and now a vacation home for rent.
The fed each other cake.
And even shared a kiss for the camera.
Here they are with two of their three granddaughters. Trica was 18 years old ( in torquoise) and Jen was 15 years old (pink). Trica was incharge of serving the punch and Jen was incharge of the guest book.
Lunch and cake were served, many relatives, neighbors and old friends attended. It was a good celebration of 50 years.
I recall celebrating my Grandparents 50th, I know I disliked dressing up at the time! These bring back memories. My folks never did celebrate their 50th, they have moved to different states by then.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful celebration! So nice you have pictures of them and the girls too. It seems like those parties were similar in smaller communities...I bet they even had those homemade 'mints' that were at every occasion. Great memories for your family.
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful old family memories! And such sweet dresses the girls were wearing. :-)
ReplyDeleteSuch nice memories and pictures. My parents didn't celebrate their 50th, they said they didn't want anything. Don't know that we should have believed them.
ReplyDeleteIt's so special to have photos of these memorable events.
ReplyDeleteIt's important to celebrate these milestones and to capture them with photos.
ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures and wonderful memories. I love the one of Gar Guy’s parents feeding each other cake! Thank you for sharing with us. Blessings, Betsy
ReplyDeleteI remember being forced to dress up and serve punch for some celebration. Can't even remember what it was for now--LOL! The girls look so pretty! A fiftieth is reason to celebrate, for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat celebration.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good looking couple! Their celebration looks so nice.
ReplyDeleteWe had lunch with my cousin and his wife. We had seen them a couple of years ago at his parents 65 wedding anniversary. He told me that they are now in assisted living as neither one could take care of the other. The anniversaries end up being reunions for some families.
ReplyDeleteIt often seems like marriages don't last now days that people give up and divorce for whatever reason
ReplyDeleteGreat memories and good photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of your in-laws 50th. The photo of them with your girls is a treasure.
ReplyDelete...and it probably feels like that was just yesterday...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful celebration. What wonderful memories. You are so good about preserving all these moments.
