You know those new reading glasses that I have had for a year…never been able to wear them because the prescription is off…they are on their third set of lenses.
I had hoped they would be fixed this time. Things are still blurry.
I hate blurry. I like things crisp and clean and easy without a struggle.
The ever so helpful gal at the eye doctors office said “You should wear them as much as possible and then you will get used to them.” I asked politely how do you wear a pair of reading glasses that you cannot read with? I had to bite my quivering lip. “Well you will have to see the Doctor again.” Fine.
Far Guy says just give up already. But I am tired of looking through the scratches of my old readers that I can see quite clearly and crisply with. Right now it is the principal of the thing…why can’t they make the new glasses with the price approaching $1,000 just like my old ones that I can see with?
I have an appointment soon. Time will tell if I will be able to ever read with the new pair of glasses.
Customer Service is most likely non existant at the new eye clinic.
I called that gal every bad name I could think of in my mind. I even photographed a flower that made me feel better.
Up yours Coneflower
For the record. Far Guy tried on my old readers from 2011, and then the new readers and he says they are not the same glasses.
My Blepharitis is much better, the eye wash cloths seem to be taking care of the problem, my eyes are much improved.
I wonder if you took them to another place and had them look at the prescription. I bet the second place would be able to tell you what it was...sounds like place number 1 doesn't want to admit to an error.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't deal with that sort of issue as I wear my glasses all of the time. The cost of glasses are awful!
I went through this with one of those chain eyeglass places a few years ago and I know how frustrating it is. I am sorry to say, I reverted to my old glasses in the end, just gave up. They kept telling me the same thing: wear them and you will get use to them. They made me nauseous trying to see! I think Val's idea is a good one if you can find a second place to take them to.
ReplyDeleteEver since my cataract surgeries, my vision is much improved, and with the prescription glasses (progressive lenses) I can see crisper than I have in ages. Now if I just ignore the blurry patches from the macular degeneration, I'm seeing fine. But I do have to wear readers (the cheap ones) for extended reading since otherwise my eyes get really tired and blurry. You need to take your glasses to another place and see if they can help you. Glad to hear your blepharitis is so much better! :-)
ReplyDeleteI had that problem a number of years ago when I bought a pair of glasses at LensCrafters. No matter what they did everything was always blurry. I finally broke down and went to see aMaster Optician who diagnosed the problem. He said the lenses in the glass were made from a polycarbonate material and some people just can't see clearly thru it. So he switched my lenses to Tri-Vex material and I have never had a problem since then. Hope this can help you.
ReplyDeleteAs you know, you should be able to see clearly the first time you put the new prescription glasses on your face. The only two times I had to "adjust" to glasses were.....when I wore bi-focals for the first time........ and when they made an adjustment for astigmatism. It gets frustrating dealing with people who are supposed to know their job better than we do!!! Have you considered changing doctors or eye clinics?
ReplyDeleteI wonder, can you take the old ones with you and they can match the strength.
ReplyDeleteMy husband uses the dollar ones from the dollar store.:)
I did that with the third pair of lenses:(
DeleteThanks to you my eyes are much better also!
ReplyDeleteIt's frustrating when things like this happen. Too many people don't advocate for themselves (I'm glad you do) and accept the inferior. I hope you get the glasses you need soon.
ReplyDeleteI recently went thru this with 2 new pair of glasses. My old ones were still good, but I wanted new sunglasses and driving glasses so I could just leave one set in each car so I would always have them when I needed them.
ReplyDeleteOK, did the eye exam and picked out new frames and all, and when they came in, one lens was perfect and the other one was awful. Very blurry. Both pairs were just the same, unusable to me.
I got the same song and dance you have gotten, your eyes just have to get used to them. I said I have worn glasses all my life and I know the difference between a little adjustment and being off the charts unusable.
One of the other gals took a look at my new prescription and compared it to my old prescription, and said: "There is something wrong here, one of these values is way out of what it should be. You will need to see the doctor again".
Well, long story short, when the doc entered the prescription into the computer, he got a decimal point in the wrong place. What should have been .25 in one of the grinding formulas got entered as 2.5, a 10fold error. The new glasses, made with the right formula, arrived yesterday and they are wonderful. Just another example of the devil is in the details. So, keep after them until they get it right.
Hey, you got a great shot of the monarch. My eyes are still troubling. I spent a few years with a bad pair of glasses and closed my left eye most of the time. Now I have to remember to open the eye while doing everything.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterfly photos. Hope you can get your glasses fixed. How frustrating!
ReplyDeleteThat would drive me crazy! I have enough problem with my eyes not matching and things jumping around unless I close one eye. Blurry would drive me just crazy! Maybe you do need another eye place.
ReplyDeleteYour flower said it all, cute.
ReplyDeleteI know just exactly how you feel. I just went through the same thing with both my new glasses and my sunglasses. After having them re-remade three times they’re better, but still not good. I finally just gave up after being told you just need to wear them more. I wear them all of the time! Things are still blurry. I hope you get it fixed.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Sorry for your woes, but the "Up Yours Coneflower" made me smile. 'Eye' hope this all gets sorted out for you. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt would seem a number of us are either having or have had eye glasses trouble. I now have 3 pairs that I use. All 3 give me headaches and until October I'm stuck.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you can get your glasses changed so they work for you. Don't give up.
Age related declining eyesight is a pain. Our eyes change from day to day and then back again.
ReplyDeleteI had hoped that with my new glasses I would have clearer vision. I do not. I'm disappointed too. Makes me wonder if I gave the wrong answers at my vision test. I hate those.
ReplyDeleteHope you finally get the right prescription. I have had trouble, too. Once the lens were inserted upside down. THAT was interesting to say the least.
ReplyDeleteOH! MY! I hope you can get the right prescription, I went through something similar a few years ago, I so relate to your frustration. I also don't know what has happened to customer service anymore.
ReplyDeleteSue
I have had cataract surgery in both eyes: not 20/20, but a vast improvement over what I had before. The opthamologist wanted me to get prescription lenses (which I have had all my life), but I found that store bought works just fine. Unless you have major eye problems and all you need is readers, get thee to a drugstore and try on the storebought. I have four pair, all each slightly different, (one for the computer, one for reading, etc.) and that may be all you need.
ReplyDeletebtw, the eye doctor still tells me I should have prescription lenses. The clue is, he also sells them. Aha.
Beautiful shots! Hope you get some new, crisp glasses soon!
ReplyDelete$1000.00??? You better be able to see to Mars and back with those babies! I just get mine at the drugstore but I don't have that 'b' thing you mentioned. What is that? I've had 2 eye operations for my GRave's Disease and I can see better than ever.
