Not too many people love the chokecherry as I do! And you too? That is awesome! We used to look for those trees as a kid and go pick the cherries for jelly. My Grandmother also made jello with chokecherry juice. It truly it a great taste! Mowing. Eeeks. Dis...like it! One summer I fenced off the yard to let the mules eat the yard down because it got away from me.
Crabapple trees are in full bloom as well as the Lilac bushes. With all our rain it is hard to keep up with the lawn mowing. I've done it twice already. The "pond" in my backyard just won't dry up so some ducks have taken up residence there.
My Mom was always scouting the area for chokecherries and currant bushes on abandoned farms. When it was time to pick, we'd arrive buckets in hand. Good memories.
Lilacs began blooming around here last week which is always the first sign of spring. Mowing has been going on for a few weeks now. I love those sweet little blooms. They look so delicate. Blessings, Betsy

It seems so strange to see your photos with the trees so bare. Last weekend, we had cherries for dessert. It's cherry harvest season here already, so we are much deeper into the green in our neck o' the woods.
