We had a nightime visitor. A black bear…about 5 plus feet tall.
He tried to chew into a wire mesh feeder and knocked down another feeder. After that we load up the feeders in the wheelbarrow at night and put them in the garage.
I let Chance smell of the damaged feeder he didn’t seem interested or impressed at all. The bear left us a poopy present near the sauna. The bear poop looked like a cow pie only darker and full of seeds ( just incase you were curious).
Exciting times out here in the boonies! The bear visited homes over on the lake too…he/she was caught on a trail cam over there.
Wow! Did you hear him banging around? He's huge. There was one reported this weekend near my daughters house in Burnsville and the grandboys were so hoping to see it. My daughter, not so much!
ReplyDeleteNope he was a silent visitor:)
DeleteNot the kind of nighttime visitor I would like to see. Wow!
ReplyDeleteWe see bear poop on the trail around here now and then. Very distinctive indeed. And gosh what a scary visitor he is. Chance might not like to meet him/her when he's going out to do his business. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! On camera, I hope! That would scare the heck out of me. They have been spotting them about 100 miles south of the cities, too.
ReplyDeleteNever know who will stop by in the night. Here
ReplyDeletePeople will never learn cameras are every where now--
Bear's could care less.
Love to see bears,,,,,,,in the distance, not up close and personal.
ReplyDeleteWhaaat! You're closing the Far Side evening buffet! 😊
ReplyDeleteJust overnight for a few nights:)
DeleteChance's sniffer is probably not what it used to be. Seems like proof of that.
ReplyDeleteYup--time to move the bird feeders inside at night! Goodness!
What a cool/scary/cool adventure!
ReplyDeleteYikes!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Funny, I've shown the dogs a spot that should have a very interesting scent, and they don't show much interest either. I always wonder if it is something they have smelled lots of before, unbeknownst to us. What berries would the bear be eating at this time of the year, oh, maybe it is all bird seed haha! I'm sure you will be a bit wary when you take Chance out for his nightly constitutional, at least for a while.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting and scary! It sure is fun to see the pictures from the trail cam. I would be real careful when Chance goes out at night!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, we have that issue here as well...once spring comes I can't keep my feeders out at night at all. They go into a metal garbage can with a lid in my garage with the door locked. Scary!
ReplyDeleteThey visited the campground this past weekend too. That was really surprising to me considering how many people were there with the holiday. It’s fun to catch it on camera though isn’t it ?
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
I can't imagine having a bear come up so close to my house but we don't have bears here so unlikely to happen
ReplyDeleteBears can be a hazard and a nuisance.
ReplyDeleteNot a very welcome visitor, to be sure. I hope removing all the food sources discourages it.
ReplyDeleteBears are not just in the boonies any more. We actually had one in our driveway here in big city suburbia, just a mile from an international airport. They trael in greenbelts along freeways.
Wow!
ReplyDeleteYes, probably a very good idea to take birdfeeders into the garage at night. Although I wouldn't be too surprised to have them come by during the day, brazen as they can be.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! How exciting it would be to see a bear snooping around at night.
ReplyDeleteI love them but like many, I don't want to meet up with one face to face!
