Flowers of Summer

Seem a long way off this winter.  It snowed again….and probably not the last time this winter/spring either.  The muddy rutts are now frozen rutts.  The days are longer but with the wind and the wind chills way below zero it seems that spring is never going to come…and summer well that is just a distant memory.

Almost a painting

I took this photo last summer at The Dead Beaver Area.  We just happened by there at the right time.

Even though the days are longer we have not begun our evening drives, Chance misses them…I do too but there is just snow out there.  In April snow loses it’s magic…

I am still winter/spring cleaning kitchen cupboards.  I had a good day and got a few more done the count is 21 out of 28.  When I get them done I must spend a whole day washing everything in the open cupboards…and weeding out some of the extra dishes…it is a project for sure. I would rather winter/spring clean with the windows open but that won’t be happening anytime soon.

  1. I know what you mean, I want to get out and do some yard work or something. We don't have the snow, but everything is frozen solid again. I have a tiny kitchen, but have been doing the same thing.

  3. I really like that photo of iris. When I had a property in Minnesota we had a water spigot for feet washing before one could come into he cabin. I planted some of those there and they did survive for a few years. I never saw them bloom but the foliage was good.

  5. I'm eager to open doors and windows, too: the house smells stuffy. At least you're making progress on the kitchen deep cleaning.

  7. That's a beautiful photo, and a promise that there is hope for summer to come.
We are experiencing a rain and wind storm today that has me house bound. With my cupboards already sorted, I am wondering how to pass the time.

  10. Yup. Too cold to have the windows cracked open for more than a few minutes for fresh air. It's 17 degrees right now at 1:00pm so it's not going to get much warmer today. You are doing great with your cupboards, though! :)

  17. If the windows were open you'd have to be outside cleaning up the yard! LOL! I'm sure you are tired of it but your weather is more exciting. We are just overcast and gloomy.
