I got the little bark houses painted. I also painted a bigger project for Far Guy. Glad to have that project done.
We are working on a prototype for this years Christmas ornament…it is another woodcarving, different from anything we have done previously…we will see how it works out.
Now I am ready for the ever present snow to melt…we are very cold here…so that probably isn’t happening this week. So far we have record breaking low temperatures for the month.
I began some winter/spring cleaning …kitchen cupboards are on my list and I have a number of them accomplished…it is tedious work exploring cupboards. I have 28 cupboard/drawers in the kitchen…8 are done…uffda.
I hounded Far Guy until he replaced all the batteries in the smoke alarms…even though they are supposed to be good and will let you know when the battery is low, I feel better when they are changed every six months. He changed the batteries and tested them all…made Chance nervous. For some reason we did not get them changed when the time changed…usually that is my reminder to insist it be done.
I love all your carving houses. They are so cute. Wish I was able to win one but I think I picked April 1. Sure wish Spring would arrive; I;m getting tired of shoveling snow.
ReplyDeleteWe are cooler than normal with above average rainfall, but spring is still in evidence, not like your cold snowy spring. I love your pretty little hobbit houses. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose houses are adorable! I wish I had your talent! We had a snowfall and cold temps now, but I am seeing small indications of spring here and there.
ReplyDeleteOh, how sweet!
ReplyDeleteAt the beginning of the year I committed to working 15 minutes a day on a cleaning project. Breaking large projects down in small bits worked very well, especially when it came to the kitchen drawers and cupboards.
ReplyDeleteReally like the little houses. We always wait until they beep at us to change the batteries.
ReplyDeleteI like your little village.
ReplyDeleteI haven't changed my batteries yet, but they're on the counter taunting me. Today IS the day.
ReplyDeleteAre you seeing, like Edmonton, positive temperatures in your forecast for next week? I sure hope so. I wonder if there is a dog on this earth that 'likes' the smoke detector.
ReplyDeleteYour bark houses are so creative! I have the two I purchased from you years ago on my entry table. (Can't figure out how to add photo to comment.) Sure hope you get some warm weather!
ReplyDeleteWe use the smoke detectors to tell us when the pizza is done. Ha ha! The people who built our house must have been a bit paranoid because they have three smoke detectors in the hall and one in the kitchen, which is right at the end of the hall. I feel very safe sleeping here! Hope it warms up for you soon.
ReplyDeleteLove the bark houses! You are so creative! We have had a few record breaking low temps here too. Still waiting for spring and starting to hope we don't go from winter to winter!
ReplyDeleteI think of you every time I hear of another cold, snowy blast moving across the northern US. Our spring is ery chilly so far, but nothing compared to what you have.
ReplyDeleteYour tiny houses are great! What do you do with them all? Do you display some in your house?
I just love your little houses. They really come to life when they are painted and colorful. Had a bit of a brief blanketing of snow this afternoon again--really pretty big flakes. Not spring yet. ;) Good lucky on the kitchen cupboards.
ReplyDeleteVery wise move to get batteries in good working order.
ReplyDeleteYour little houses are so cute.
The paint really brings out the detail on those little houses.
ReplyDeleteYour little homes are so sweet. My mother would have loved them. So sorry about your weather. Folks are envious of GA's weather currently but I know we will be brutally hot and miserable when the rest of you are just right - guess there is no perfect place to live! lol
ReplyDeleteSame kind of very cold weather here. I think we'll miss spring and get it next year.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least you have the snow to put you in a Christmas mood for creating your new ornament design ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure it will work out so well for inspiring spring cleaning efforts!
p.s. I know Gene loves trains/railroad. The log cabin/pioneer book I blogged about today, the author also has the same type books about trains. Here is the link and scroll down a ways to see at least 3 railroad books: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xwayne+erbsen+books.TRS0&_nkw=wayne+erbsen+books&_sacat=0
ReplyDeleteI really like this village for little people. Maybe its time to carve a little person or dwarf to go with the houses.
ReplyDeleteYour hand carved houses are so precious and each one is unique. I cherish mine and it's little tree. Good for you cleaning cupboards....I'm still deep cleaning the bathroom...there's another one after that but I did throw out all kinds of stuff...that feels good!
