It was cold…about –20F or –6C eh!
We were married in the afternoon and had a reception afterwards. We had cake, Christmas cookies, coffee, punch and some fancy sandwitches…they used to take a loaf of bread and swirl food coloring in it. Then it would be sliced lengthwise and the layers would be filled with cheese…ham salad etc…fancy….the reception took place in the church social hall.
This is a photo of the inside of the church taken from the balcony.
We had fun looking at the backs of the heads in this photo. Many who are now gone. My Maternal Grandmother and Far Guys Maternal Grandmother both wore hats as did our Mothers.
This is the entire wedding party. The gal( my Aunt that was younger than me) on the far left died last spring but the rest of the group are still alive and well.
48 years…it sounds like a long time…but it doesn’t seem that long ago. We know each other well and can finish each other sentences and often are thinking the same thing at the same time. We are still best friends and on good days we both have a wicked sense of humor.
We had planned to spend the day away to see a Grand…but we are supposed to get a bunch of snow and it may be a winter storm so we will spend the day at home. Warm and safe instead of in a snowstorm someplace.
What a heartwarming post, and what beautiful photos. Warm greetings to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wedding Anniversary! Los of great memories for you. We have 50th coming up next year. We also seem to know what the other is thinking - a bit frightening at times.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary you kids!! If we're getting a storm you are best safe at home with Chance. Maybe snuggle up and watch something good. I know you have been baking and cooking away so you should be set for getting snowed in if that turns out to be the case. 48 years does sometimes seem like it was just yesterday. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful wedding party.
ReplyDeletel absolutely love your 1st pic. Sure wish I had one like that. We celebrated our 47th in Oct. I believe that is how many years you have?

ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful wedding photo, and many congratulations to the both of you. I would have been married fifty years this coming March if I added all the husbands up into one instead of four. :-)

ReplyDeleteHappy 48th anniversary! I don't know where the time goes. I ran into a older first cousin and she chose to relive my first years for me to bring me down. The number 48 does seem like a long time ago but really it all can pretty much be remembered and seem like just yesterday. I hope Christmas goes well for all of you.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! The pictures are beautiful. Keep meaning to tell you how much I like your header. The colors are so pretty!
