Chance: Uffda

It’s me Chance…that handsome kinda sick Border Collie.  I don’t know what I ate…french fries with bad grease no doubt….and french fries are one of my most favorite foods.  They gave Far Guy and Far Side tummy aches.  I am older than them and my system is finicky.

I have pancretitis.  I have been as sick as a dog can be… Far Side and I spent almost one whole night together inside and outside…I barfed and barfed and Far Side almost barfed too.  She was a trooper and wouldn’t lay down inside when I was outside barfing and eating snow…she would come visit me outside…and make me come in and in twenty minutes or less I had to go back out again and again…it was a long night with almost no sleep.

Well I tell ya what Far Side on no sleep cries easily.  She was worried…when Far Guy woke up in the morning and was briefed she said “I am going to sleep now…you are incharge.”  After a two hour nap she was still exhausted and bawling, I was still sicker than a dog so neither of us were in any shape to go with Far Guy up North to watch Adam’s Robotics Tournament.  So we stayed home…we napped and went outside and ate snow at regular intervals.  She brought my bed to the landing. She said “No stairs for you buddy.”

Far Guy came home and I looked better at least that is what he said. I felt better and started whining for some food…I ate some boiled rice and finally drank some water.  I am still weak.  I fell down the steps…Far Side says I have to wear my harness up and down and there is no fooling around with the steps and I am lucky I didn’t break a hip or a leg.  Far Side say she thinks I have escaped death once again.

  2. Oh, dear, Chance. What an awful night. You must have scared your peeps silly. Take it easy for a few days now and let FS have a few extra naps. Love from your friend, Bob the Border Collie.

  3. I do hope you recover completely, Chance, as you are important to many of your admirers, including me! And I get all weepy when I don't sleep, too. Sending you lots of pets and hugs to Far Side. :-(

  7. Oh Chance, I hope you get better. Tell your parents to add boiled ground beef and some cottage cheese to the rice (our Vet suggested this to us).

  8. Not good Chance! I sure hope you are going to be all right, and I bet you are getting lots of luvvin from everyone. Merle was sick last week too, had to get bloodwork done but thankfully a long lasting antibiotic shot fixed him right up. So I know Far Side's feeling of worry because I had it too!

  11. OH! Chance! I sure hope you are better. I was very, very, sick this summer. Your Mom gave my mom good advice. I don't know why I got better, but I did. Mom says she can understand your Mom crying. She never stopped crying until I got up and wagged my tail.
I hope by the time you read this you are doing much, much better. Boomer and MOM

  12. I sure hope, as well as Far Side, you are feeling better real soon. It's no fun being sick.

  13. Oh that sounds so awful. I hope both Chance and Far Side are feeling much better by this point. It is so stressful worrying over your animal when it is sick, we all hate to see them suffering and not knowing if a trip to the emergency vet is called for or not. And things going wrong in the middle of the night are just so much worse than daytime ones. Hugs to all!

  14. Poor Chance and his people!! My fifteen-year-old border collie Scout was sick last Saturday for some unknown reason, with vomiting and no appetite, and I was very, very scared for him. However, by Sunday, he was totally better and eating as usual. Once he was feeling better, I gave him poached eggs mixed with some yogurt (all from my farm), and I believe this helped him. I try to give him some of my homemade yogurt every day. I am very glad that Chance is doing better, and I hope he continues to feel great.

  15. Barney was doing that a few years ago and we ended up taking him to a vet. Whatever the shot was is shut everything down so he could heal up the digestive system. We didn't get the pleasure of him being outside to vomit. Chance, the beef and cottage cheese are the old stand by's. I hope you are better now. Food poisoning for two humans and a dog is not a good thing. I hope everyone is now better.

  16. Stay away from those French fries with 'bad grease' Chance. Glad you're over the wobblies.

    1. Yes he is still a bit "off" but he is old. He is hungry. Peeing and pooping so he is on the mend. I think.
