I hate the time change. I am a tad more cranky than normal…not sure why, we are on no schedule other than Chance wanting someone to be up and preparing supper and his dish of food at 5:30 to be consumed at 6PM. He is kind of bossy that way, he now thinks it’s great that we are on the ball and eating supper early!! Soon enough his tummy will be on the new schedule.
I am trying some new recipes this week. Three of them…a BBQ chicken recipe, cause I was hungry for BBQ. A root vegetable latke recipe that I will prepare with a couple of pork chops and then a cheesy sausage frittata with red peppers ( cause green ones give me indigestion).
I subscribe to many “foodie” type magazines and rarely find a main dish recipe that we may like… either they take too many ingredients some of which we have never heard of or it has some ingredient we don’t like…like ricotta cheese. Some recipes have to be adapted a bit.
It is cold here and damp, we still have snow on the ground…it was about 15 F or –5C eh here yesterday morning. That little nip in the air produced a grocery list as long as my arm. The roads are icy…especially here in the woods (It rained and then snowed and then rained and then snowed.) Far Guy is back to walking round and round in the house. We are hoping for a thaw…or for weather at least above freezing to wash the windows one last time.
Flowers from last summer. This huge basket of flowers hung on the pole along the street in front of the house where Far Guy was born and raised.
Like Chance, Boston Terrier Enzo is also still on daylight saving time! Everything has to happen sooner than the clock says! He will get on the new schedule soon I hope.
ReplyDeleteYep, the animals are not informed about the time change and the human here has always thought it was the stupidest thing ever thought up. I get up early enough and now it is even earlier and the girls want to eat at 4 instead of 5 at night and I am falling asleep at 8 now and getting up at 3:30! It doesn't bother me but when I have company it crimps my style. Old people should not have overnight guests....it's hard on all of us! LOL!
ReplyDeleteBorder Collies are such creatures of habit. I see yours has you well-trained. So does ours. Even though I am always the first one up in the morning, Bob insists on for Paul letting her out for the first pee. She will wait for hours. Any other time of day, I am just fine at opening the door but not that first time!
ReplyDeleteI'm not envying you such cold temps this early. It's going to be a looooooong winter. Hope you get a nice day or two for window washing.
Glad FG is feeling good enough to want to be doing something.
ReplyDeleteWe had a dog once who came into the bedroom at 6 am and promptly go back to her bed and back to sleep. Who needs an alarm clock?
I actually prefer this time. I hate getting up in the dark and if you don't stop until dark in the evening, it makes for late dinners that I'm too tired to cook and clean up after :-/.
ReplyDeleteI hate the time change also! I'm glad FG is feeling ever so much better!
ReplyDeleteI used to get recipe magazines in the mail. Now I check them out of the library or browse the internet. Pinterest is a good place to search. In addition to the many websites with recipes only - - like "Taste of Home", you can go to product sites - - - like Campbell's, Pace, etc. and find new creations - - but I am sure you know that because you are very clever with what can be done with a computer.
ReplyDeleteI hate the time change too, just leave it alone. On the plus side my car clock is right again! The dogs hate it as well, their tummies are on one schedule, not a varying one! :)
ReplyDeleteI hate the time change too, always messes me up.
ReplyDeleteWhile the time change takes a few days to adjust to, I do enjoy the daylight in the evening in the summer, and then like it when it switches back in the Fall since the mornings have got so dark by that point.
ReplyDeleteIt's clear and darn cold here. It is probably going your way. It will make you crankier!
ReplyDeleteThe time change makes me cranky too! :)
ReplyDeleteThis one is a little easier for me to take than the spring one, but I never like the time change.
ReplyDeleteWow! New recipes. Sounds exciting. I have to switch to red or yellow or orange peppers instead of the green, too, for the same reason.
Stay warm! :)
I browse those recipe magazines and admire the pictures. Then I go back to the old favourite recipes.
ReplyDeleteThe fall time change is easy to handle. It's the spring ahead that is tough for me. But I do like longer summer days and lighter winter mornings.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for trying recipes. I hardly ever do anything new or complicated.
When will be finally stop messing around with the time? I too am extra cranky and the dark at 4:30pm doesn't help! :-(
ReplyDeleteI think most of us with pets feel your pain!
