October rain

The leaves are falling and it rains every other day.  It is good for the trees and ducks and that is about it.   No fire danger here this year.  The potato harvest…well any kind of harvest has come to a halt in the damp weather.

leaves are wet

Far Guy has mulched leaves twice now.  About eight more times unless it stays wet ..or the S word happens.

Even the bees are wet…sleeping maybe…showered while they slumber.

The acorns that were crunching underfoot are getting soaked and softer.  They no longer make me wish I wore shoes with hard soles.  So there are some benefits of the rains.

Some days a person has to look on the bright side!

  1. We've been dry since Irma came thru. We have so many acorns and they are especially noisy on the neighbor's metal roof.

  2. We've been really dry now since August. My grass is so dry it crunches when I walk on it and it is totally brown. Hopefully instead of just high humidity we get some actual rain. Love your pictures.

  4. We've had a couple of light rains, if I hang out clothes or Mac waters you can count on us getting some rain.

  5. Rain here also. We still have one field of pintos to get out and can't. The onions are soaked in the field; they say warmer weather is on the way....we need it.

  6. We got about a tenth of an inch total rain here in September. Still very dry, but the mornings are getting chilly and the leaves are beginning to turn.

  8. Rain every other day is better than rain every day I guess. Like you say, some days you just have to look extra hard for the bright side.
