We had a number of visitors to our yard yesterday.
There are at least three Hummingbirds. Two large ones and one itty bitty.
My feeder is red glass the sugar water inside is clear.
This big old Blue Jay hung out for awhile.
One Oriole is here feasting on grape jelly and oranges. We hope his friends join him soon.
This is a Pileated Woodpecker. He is here year round and hard to photograph…I was at the right place at the right time. He is one huge bird and loves the suet feeders.
The last visitor of the day was a Coyote in the driveway. We are keeping Chance company when he goes out.
Wonderful photos! You had a much bluer sky than we did.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, especially of the woodpecker. I haven't sen any hummingbirds yet, but my feeder is out - lack of flowers in the area might be the reason. I do have Orioles and woodpeckers (Downy and red-bellied) and lots of finches, wrens and sparrows. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your photos of the birds. We saw a pileated woodpecker on our Butterfly Transect walk a couple weeks ago. Always a thrill. We have never seen one in our yard.
ReplyDeleteThose are wonderful bird pictures, especially the hummer. That pileated woodpecker is common around here, but it's always a thrill to see them. Hope you have a great weekend and are feeling better. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove all your feathered friends the coyote...not so much!
ReplyDeleteWonderful birds to have, adding life and color to your yard.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at how you have captured such wonderful pictures of all of these birds! Wow! Yes, Chance needs some company if there are coyotes around! I'm sure he likes the company, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe have the same woodpecker here, and I got some not so great pictures of one on the feeder during the winter. Apparently hummingbirds are here all winter, and I've certainly heard them around for quite a while now. Glad you know not to put the red food colouring in the humming bird feeder ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove to see the birds returning for summer.
ReplyDeleteI love the bird photos. I've never seen an Oriole.
ReplyDeleteScary about the coyote. Our neighbor up the hill had 3 300-500 lb bears in his yard!
We had a Pileated Woodpecker nest in some trees near our house when we lived in the country. The babies were so cute. Miniatures of the parents.
ReplyDeleteHummers are always fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your bird photos. We have coyotes here in the suburbs. They are hard on cats. We have never been visited by a pileated woodpecker. I am envious.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful birds and love, love those orioles!
