Chance : Dog Days and Nights

Hiya!  It’s me Chance.  You know how cold it is?

There were Sundogs Wednesday morning, they were so big that it looked like we had three suns.  Far Side waited too long to take photos and poof they were gone.

The phone rang at supper time and it was Far Sides other baby brother who said “Get out there to freeze your butt off and get some photos…there are Moondogs.”  Well she waited too long inside the nice warm house.

She did get a nice photo of me earlier in the day. Wind Chills were –25 to -35 below zero.  I was not allowed to walk to the mail box, it is too far for an old dog in the extreme cold.  Far Side thought Far Guy should stay in too…but he went anyway.  Far Side watched from the window, it seemed forever before he was seen through the trees on the way back.

I had a really boring day…no company…ball playing commenced inside the house until I got tired and needed another nap.

Yes, that is snow on my nose. We may warm up in a week.

  1. Hi Chance:
I am glad that you are not going out in the cold more than necessary. And what a good thing it is that you have such nice thick fur to keep you warm.Do you have anything to keep your paws warm? I guess some dogs don't like those booties, though.

  2. Hi Chance, glad you aren't going outside much in this nasty weather (bitter cold here also). I'm not allowed outside either unless necessary. So no walks for me. Then again no one yells at me for taking more naps just because I'm stuck inside. Keep warm.

  3. Now that is what I call cold, Chance. Be a good dog and stay inside until it warms up a little, okay? Tell Far Side I've never seen a real live moon dog! Have you? They don't play ball but they must be cool to see. :-)

  5. Barney was starting to limp last night while walking home. We will have to force the dog to take a shorter journey and maybe stay in the grass. Your lucky that your owners keep you in more as it is just too cold. Maybe a few extra dog biscuits will take care of the boredom. We have a new white oval cushion for Barney. It is not thick but they must have some smell on it to make him love it. He curls up and sleeps there a lot now

  6. Wind chills that low are too cold for man or beast! Tell Far Guy to drive to the mailbox on the bitter cold days: it's safer.

Sorry FarSide missed the photos of the sun dogs and the moon dogs.

  7. The moon has been beautiful on rising these last few nights. Cold here too, for us anyway. Jake was walking funny yesterday morning, and when he stopped his back legs were shaking. He has nice thick fur like you Chance. So I took a guess and went back to the house to get come of Calli's old booties. That did the trick and he felt much better!

  11. Yes! It is too cold for any old dogs to walk to the mailbox--LOL! That FarGuy!
I never saw any sundogs, but I don't have a good broad horizon view anymore and only get the morning sun. Sounds like quite a sight! Stay warm--all of you! ;)

  13. Chance, that sounds way too cold to me. You're mighty lucky to have such good mom and dad and a nice warm house. Eli would love to play in that snow with you. Take care!

  16. Brrr - don't tell Far Side but Oscar was out in very cold temperatures... but he loved walking and running so he kept himself warm. You're looking good Chance - I'm so glad they are taking good care of you.

  18. Hi Chance,
I'm getting the same treatment here and it's not even that cold. It was 28 but once it goes below freezing, Mom doesn't want me laying out on the cold concrete or the ground because she says it's bad for my joints. This is my kind of weather too! I love the cold and it's too warm in the house plus I like having some peace and quiet away from the others....much as I love them. Stay warm and watch those paws. I wish we would get some snow....I love it!
Merry Christmas! Barks from Nitty, Annie, Grace and Miss Peeps
