Fall Flag and other stuff

I finally got the Fall flag out, it was about time.
Fall flag
Far Guy put a nail in the house to hold his walking stick and my broom.  The broom is so light that it kept falling over in the wind.

One day Far Guy went out the door first.  He said in a loud voice “Look out!!”  Well who needs to look I just hopped over everything and screamed bloody murder in his ear. Shortly after that the nail went up.

We don’t have many leaves left in the trees.  One more round this weekend and we will be done, it is too wet to do anything right now.  When I get done with the leaves the snow stick will go up.
Chances Treat ball
Chance’s new treat ball arrived.  He likes it, it dispenses food as it rolls around on the floor, it keeps him busy for a while.  We load it with Bison and Venison Dog Food.  His last treat ball was chewed up by Labrador Retriever Guests and he was so sad.  I got that ball from Petco a long time ago, this time I ordered from Chewy.  His last one was purple and this one is bright orange and a bit smaller.

  3. Just like a Labrador Retriever to chew up a ball! I'm glad Chance got a new one. It is amazing how fast the month of October has gone by. Hardly time to hang a flag or do anything!

This time we have not gotten calls or much paper.

  7. Since Chance likes his, I think we might get Bob a treat ball. She is breaking the bank with rawhide bones as she finishes one a day of the large ones and then she is bored. And a bored Border Collie is not a good thing!
    Pretty flags.

  8. No bored Border Collie = strange and unusual events!
I miss having a dog but the highway here is too close and we have yet to figure out the best way to fence the front perimeter. Happy fall!

  10. That would be a lot of fun for him. When we first got Barney as a young one he would keep coming in the living room with a dog biscuit. He was having a good time until we figured out was helping himself, one at a time, to the biscuit plastic bag sitting in the kitchen. I think he was certain that he was going to stick around if a free dispenser was available.

  11. I sold off all of my flags at a garage sale a few years ago. They had been gifts and we never got them up in time. I like the scarecrow. Once you start putting in nails you will be putting up nails all over the outside of the cabin. It was a great solution. My rake is flopped outside right now leaning ready for me to trip over it.

  12. We order all our pet (cat & dog)food and cat litter from Chewy. So much easier than loading it in the cart at Petco and unloading it into the car - - and back out of the car. This was it is only taking it into the house and I let my husband do that! I do feel sorry for the FedEx man. Those are some heavy boxes oftentimes because we order the big bags. In addition to the ease of online ordering, usually the stuff is much cheaper, too.

  13. Sadly, we finally had to take away our Aussie's treat ball after she figured out that more treats would fall out if she flung it at the family room wall. Too smart for her own good.

  14. I can understand why Chance's treat ball was chewed up by a Lab. Once the treats were eaten the ball had to go! Is there any breed as voracious as a Lab?

  15. My husband is in charge of the flags here and he takes his duty seriously. We have more flags than you can imagine. He is frequently changing them and he has purchased all of them except for the American Flag.

I'm laughing at Chance and the treat ball. We have several of those. When our Ellie was alive she was expert at getting the treats out. And Lucy was expert at following close behind and immediately snarfing them. Now that Ellie is gone, Lucy has no interest in working for her treats. I have filled them and she just looks at me as if to say, "Aren't you going to get the treats out for me? Ellie always did."

  19. Your flag is great! I should get treat balls for the girls for Christmas. They don't play with toys anymore but they would if it dispensed treats! LOL! Great idea...thanks!
