Chance :12 years old

It is my turn again today!!!

Today I enter my 12th year.  I was born in a barn near Aldrich Minnesota, I had lots of brothers and a sister and a great place to play and little kids to play with.  I grew and grew.  Then Far Side and Far Guy came to visit all the puppies…I walked up to Far Guy, he picked me up and didn’t put me back down.

I had to pose for the traditional birthday photo. She got lots of photos with my eyes closed…I am not an easy model.

Chance is twelve

This year she decided that I needed to lay in front of the Euonymus bush…it might be the prettiest spot in the yard to show me off…at least that is what she said.

And here I am at my black and white best.

12 years old is the average life span of a Border Collie…I made it!  I have some back leg and hip problems…sometimes my old legs just don’t want to go up or down the stairs.  I take a medication and an aspirin.  I have a vest with a handle that I can wear and someone will help me up and down the stairs.

I still play ball some days…some days not so much.  I have a nice bed to sleep on, sometimes I sleep there and sometimes not.  Most days I get to go for a ride!

    Happy Birthday, dear Chance! I am a senior citizen too and understand about hips and having trouble with stairs. I take a little pain killer for my arthritis too so don't feel bad about having to take the aspirin We all love you very much, Chance and wish for you many more years with your wonderful family and friends.

    Happy birthday Chance! I'm sure Far Guy picked out the best of the litter that day 12 years ago. You are so handsome and that pretty red bush in the background does make that the perfect spot for a picture.

    Happy birthday, Chance? Do they make the vests with handles on them for people who need help doing stairs? They should. I would buy one...

    Far Side was right, it is a pretty spot to show you off. Of course, being so handsome, you look good no matter where you are!

    Happy Birthday Chance. You are such a handsome dog. Barney's bath and major hair trim in the back makes him look funny but he does seem to like it better. Barney seems to be loosing weight and we are not liking that at all. He still walks up to 3 times a a day loves to beg for treats all day long.

    Happy Birthday Chance. You can go a long way still.
    I had a 16 year old German Shepherd a 15 year old Old Endlish Sheepdog and unfortunately it was not natural causes that took him from me and a Blue Heeler who reached 17. The GS had signs of arthritis when I got her at 2 how did I fix this complere change of diet. All my dogs had a natural diet of pureed raw veggies and raw meat and chicken. the GS lll but cleared her arthritis which did not reappear until she was about 14. What wonderful lives thyt led as I am sure you will Chsnce. You are a beautiful boy.
    I now have a beautiful Belgium Shepherd cross Border Collie...
