Yes it happens to the best of us. We age if we want to or not.
I used to be younger.
This was in 1956 when I was 5 years old.
Some of my friends. Janet, Rhonda, my baby brother Carey, me, Corrine, Pam and Roxanne.
I kinda remember this birthday when I was five. The party was at the neighbors. I saw Janet this summer…the others I have not seen in awhile.
We don’t have much planned to mark the day, supper will be a steak and a baked potato before Far Guy heads off to a reunion with his classmates. ( When the date was mentioned as a possibility for this mini reunion I said “Go ahead, if they want to meet that night you should go.”) I will have a quiet evening at home with Chance.
My Medicare Card came three months early…so I am all set!
Happy Birthday Connie. I enjoyed seeing the picture. Enjoy your steak and potato. I love your new header photos - Chance is so handsome!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!!! your little brother looks so cute in this photo! bet he enjoyed the cake!
ReplyDelete1966?
Delete1956 It was a typo I fixed it!
DeleteOh my goodness. You're a mere child! Happy Birthday - sometimes a quiet evening at home alone is a treat, too.
ReplyDelete1966? That makes you a couple of months younger than my twins - and I don't think so! Nice try, though.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Connie! Hope you enjoyed your steak dinner. However, I think you meant to say you were 5 years old in 1955. A person can receive Medicare when they are 65 (not 55). Good try though, as I know my driver's license lies also. Hahaha
ReplyDeleteI was a little shocked to realize that you were born the same year as my son, and then I realized that no, you meant 1955! But still you are a lot younger than me; I was born in 1942. Have a great birthday, Connie! :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes on your birthday. Sweet pix. The photo off the gang of little ones is CUTE!

ReplyDeleteI'll try again. The first comment wasn't clear. Hope you enjoyed the trip around the sun to get to this point and hope your next trip around the sun is full of pleasant moments. Years ago I was an assistant at a Montessori School. One of the children's favorite rituals was the celebration of the trip around the sun on their birthdays. All the children except the birhday child sat crosslegged in a big circle. The teacher lighted a candle the birthday child held and the child started walking around the circle of classmates carefully watching the candle. Each time a circle was completed the classmates would count it...One, Two, Three. Each birthday was exciting because the birthday child got to walk around the circle one more time than the year before. Hope you still get as excited about your birthdays.
DeleteHappy Birthday Connie! Blessings on your day.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Connie, I love the old black and whites of you.Hugs Francine.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday . Lovely older photos . Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very happy birthday!! You're still young! I was born in 1942. It's cute that you were walking around with that birthday cake. I love those pictures. Little girl's dresses were pretty back then.
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy, Happy Birthday! What a cutie pie you were and still are I'm sure. Enjoy the day, the week, the month and the year....the older you get the longer you celebrate! What a great picture of you on your birthday. I have never had a party or a cake unless I made it myself. My parents were fairly self-centered...lol! Even Christmas was lame in our house. I made sure when I had my kids that Christmas and Birthdays were a big deal....but I am still waiting for that party and cake...not really. I finally started doing my own celebrations and the gifts I give myself are exactly what I wanted! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Connie. I have a photo of my fourth birthday party were I'm crying, because I thought I didn't get in the photo. I still remember thinking that thought. What a silly I was.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday. They do come around too quickly, don't they--LOL!
ReplyDeleteHope FarGuy has fun at the little reunion, too. Enjoy your time alone with Chance. :)
A very Happy Birthday to you! That is a cute photo of all the littl'uns:-)
ReplyDeleteWell happy birthday again. It seems like just yesterday that you had a birthday. I am surprised the card came so early but they still do amaze me. I got a small increase in my social security and I do mean slight. I think that I kept working and they thought I needed a little reward. Steak sounds good. The neighbor lady took us out for prime rib last week and she made our year. The last time we did that I had a fake bridge in my mouth and had to eat spaghetti. I hope you get another day out for a bonus since those old people had to have a class reunion.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday :-D
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Far Side. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYou were doing very well to carry the cake at that age! I hope you and Chance have a lovely evening relaxing together. Happy birthday, Connie! 🎈🎈🎂🎈🎈
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a lovely day and a relaxing evening with Chance.
ReplyDeleteI guess this is kind of a special birthday. I remember being so happy that I was old enough to get Old Age Pension, It made getting older almost worth it.
Happy Birthday! 1951 was a very good year. I was twenty and at college! You youngster, you! Hoping for a great year ahead for you, Far Guy and Chance.
ReplyDeleteAdding my wishes for your birthday, Far Side! Why not make it a birthday week? Wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the celebration ;)
ReplyDeleteLook at all your petticoats! Lovely photos. I love the way we all get to share so many photos. Happy birthday!
