30 deer at sunset

In our one square mile area that we drive most every night we saw 30 plus deer, at one point they were jumping all over.

Deer in the corn

Some are eating Steve’s corn, they make a mess and rip corn off the stalks and then leave it lay.  Steve bagged up some for us to feed the squirrels. Deer in the potatoes

Five were in the potato field.

The moon is almost full.

The blue and pinks layered beautifully.

It was downright cool on Wednesday morning just barely above freezing.  I thought about covering my flowers but I didn’t and they were just fine.   I mowed the lawn AGAIN and mulched some of the leaves that have fallen on the lawn.  It seems like Fall is coming on strong.

  1. Oh they are so pretty and do so much damage. They sure are pretty we forgive them. Fall is coming for sure. Hug B

  2. That is a lot of deer. The hunters should be happy this season. The nights have been cool here also but the humidity levels overnight are very high (in the 90% tile). I can't wait for Fall and lower temps and humidity.

  5. Yes, Fall is creeping down the mountains, which have had snowfall already, and it's been cool and rainy here in the valley.

  6. That's a lot of deer!
Was in the 30s at night. How crazy is that? More like possible Halloween weather. Could be a long winter. You might not need to mow again at this rate, but you never know.

  8. That's a lot of deer for this time of year. We had frost a couple of times on the weekend.

  9. One snowy almost dark evening many years ago I jumped on my old horse Handy and rode of through a field that divided two woods. Suddenly I saw a deer. I said "shhhh" to Handy - our sign that there was something to watch and not be afraid - and 30 deer crossed our path, just up the hill from where we stood, one by one by one by one...and it has been cemented in my brain as one of my fondest memories.

  10. They are beautiful animals. You are lucky to see so many ... as long as they are not munching on your garden.

  11. Such a pretty evening sky. That is a lot of deer. Our mornings are right around 70 but we still get very hot in the afternoons, around 85. We are seeing a few red leaves on the trees.

  13. I hope to get out and see the full moon later tonight. I always mean to but sometimes forget. You got a lovely shot of the almost full moon.
Too bad deer do so much damage because they are pretty to watch. Oh well, as soon as deer hunting begins they'll no doubt make themselves scarce.

  14. 30 deer! Poppy would have a fit! Deer season has started here, but only bow hunting. The picture of the moon is so pretty.

  15. Those deer know where the good eating is.
We have a decided chill now in the mornings, but no where near freezing yet.

  16. It is fun to see them. We may have a few in our neighbor's picked corn field but that is at night when we can't really see them. They must have done well these past few summers to have such a large herd.

  17. The deer sure camouflage well. We have had a couple of light frosts here - slight damage to my heritage tomatoes but they made it through.
