We seem to be in a wet cycle. I told Far Guy today that if this keeps up through the winter we will be covered in many feet of snow.
There was a lightening strike in the middle of the night (Monday morning) that took me from laying down to standing up all in one movement. My other baby brother lost Internet and TV Service not sure how his equipment fared. Jo and Steve lost Internet and TV also but no equipment because Jo unplugged everything before the storm. There was sheet lightening so bad it was like daytime out there and it poured rain and rumbled. We lost power momentarily. Chance and I were awake for a really long time after that. We got 1 1/2 inches of rain and our yard has lots of small twigs that fell from the Oaks.
Poor Chance, we have some weed that has a black seed with a sharp hook on the end, the seed is about an inch long. It seems he was either stabbed by one or one twisted and embedded into his skin, just the end was sticking out…we did some doctoring and pulled it out and treated him with antibiotic ointment and hope he doesn’t get real sick…he may need a course of antibiotics. Plus he has an ear infection again…but not in his usual ear. This time it is his right ear which has never had an infection before. It is usually his left ear. He has been tired and just not himself…don’t know what to blame, the ear, the wound or old age or maybe it is just too hot and humid…sure wish he could talk.
Rose Hips forming on the wild roses. I need to go trim them and make sure no hips are Chance height as he likes to eat them.
66 out of 80 Christmas Ornaments have been completed so we are on the home stretch!
Hope that Chance will be feeling better soon. Please keep us posted on how he is doing. Thanks.

I agree! It's so hard to have an animal ill. I wonder if he has a sticker in his ear? Boomer had a cheat grass...the vet removed it, but he had to be on antibotics for a week.

We finally got some rain yesterday after nearly a month of drought. Not enough but it helps. How can it be so humid here when it's so dry??? I wish Bob could share a little border collie energy with Chance. She doesn't have enough outdoor space to run in here and she tries to run in the house, bugs the cat, and barks too much. Too much energy!
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of lightening storms - they scare the crap out of me. I think I get that from my mother as she was afraid of them also. Sure hope Chance is feeling better soon. Give him a big hug from me. The humidity here in WI has been unbearable for a few weeks now. When I am outside I feel like I'm breathing in water vapor. Keep us posted on Chance's health.
ReplyDeletePoor Chance. I hope he's feeling better soon. I know how old age can make you grumpy. :-)
ReplyDeleteI use a tissue and alcohol to make sure ear is dry and then a couple drops of colloidal silver bought at health food store. You could try it.
ReplyDeleteHope Chance feels better. The heat is hard on seniors.
ReplyDeletePoor Chance....I hope he feels better soon. The storm sounded like a doozy! It's hot here again...I was so hoping for Fall weather and the leaves are changing color but it will come eventually. Nitty gets ear infections particularly in one ear also. I think it's the humidity and I have some blue stuff the vet gave me that I put in her ear(s) if I see her itching it or notice it's red inside then I swab it out with cotton balls after she gets done shaking. I do it outside otherwise the blue stuff goes all over the place. Needless to say she does not like it at all. Chance is probably worn out with the storm the other night and the heat....when I wake up in the night I can't get back to sleep and end up dragging the next day. Aging is not for the faint of heart for man or beast!
ReplyDeleteOnly one consolation...the thunderstorm season is coming to an end.
ReplyDeleteWow, that storm sounds like a doozy! I know all about loosing internet and equipment being fried, so I too will be unplugging when we get our next storm, which thankfully are pretty rare here. Poor Chance, I hope he is feeling better soon:-( Is that blackspot on the wild roses, from all your rain?
ReplyDeleteYes all the rain causes black spot, some years worse than others:)
DeleteSorry to hear Chance is not feeling so well.
ReplyDeleteWe have had more storms lately but not that bad.
Those are the kind of storms that scare me!! We are desperate for rain right now. Never seen it this dry here. Poor Chance. I sure hope he feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteWow! That one sounds like a doozy! Poor Chance. :( I hope he is his old self soon. It is so hard when they are sick or not acting right and you don't know exactly why.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are really going to town on Christmas decorations. Can't wait to see them!!
ReplyDeletePoor Chance. Hope he quickly gets over whatever is ailing him.
ReplyDeleteWe're still waiting for rain. Every forecast turns out to be just a sprinkle and not enough to settle dust.
Bummer about the lightning storm but at least you got some rain!
ReplyDeleteWeird storms seem to be popping up everywhere. Not here yet, knock on wood.
ReplyDeleteKeep us posted on Chance's condition. We all love that dog.
Get well Chance - you got more rain than we did (not quite an inch here) and yes the sky lit up with lightning (I couldn't sleep kept watching in case the tornado weather headed this way)
ReplyDeleteDogs hate rain storms. The one you described was a doozy! I can tell from these comments that Chance has a huge fan base! We all hope he recovers soon.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry Chance feels bad.
ReplyDeleteWay to go on the ornaments.
Barney's skin condition seems to never go away once he gets it started. Winter will fix it and frequent washing of his feet and legs slow down some of the stuff that goes along with it. He takes stuff to help with the allergy.
ReplyDeletePoor Chance. Maybe a car ride to cheer you up a bit too?
