Clouds

It rained again.  We worked on Christmas ornaments in the woodshop/greenhouse.  It was dry in there and pleasantly cool.  I only assisted for a short time…laundry, dishes and playing 52 pick up and put away happened for me first.  What?  You don’t play 52 pick up and put away?  52 items have to go back to their proper spots…with no cheating. Sometimes I can get 20 just from my desk!

Clouds Aug 20

Late in the afternoon we left for Detroit Lakes or DL as it is called.  I made a quick stop at their Ben Frankin…to check out supplies for making Christmas Cards.  Then we met a very old friend for supper, Nellie used to live next door to us in 1970 – 1972…the college years.  We had a good visit!

My other baby brother’s gallbladder surgery went just fine and he was released from the hospital last night.   He will have to be reminded to take it easy for the next two weeks…I suggested he go on a vacation!

Clouds on the way to DL Aug 20

We watched the dramatic clouds all the way over to DL and drove through a few rain showers along the way.  The high yesterday was 65 F.  Chilly enough for a sweater and cool enough so that Chance could go for the ride with us.

  2. Today is supposed to be our first fall-like day. Feels relaxing. I'll have to remember that 52 pick up game. It will make pick up time feel like I've accomplished something.

  3. The clouds have been fascinating, for sure. Glad his surgery went well. He should still be able to help a bit with she who sees robins first after her surgery. They'll have to help each other, eh?
We were outside around the fire pit with the family visit last night and it got downright chilly. I guess fall is on the way. But before that, back to 90s on Monday and Tuesday--LOL! :)

  4. I think your brother will have to be careful with his diet, as well as taking it easy for the next two weeks. Wish him a speedy recovery!

  5. 52 pick up! that's a good way to trick your brain into doing a chore and sticking with it.

  6. I like the idea of 52 pick-up, may try it today. Glad your brother's surgery went smoothly. Can't wait to have a low at 65º, never mind as a high. Our lows are in the upper 70's.

  8. We had some awesome clouds here too a couple of days ago. I love clouds. I need to play 52 pick-up. Everyday for 52 days. At least. We no longer have Ben Franklin stores in this area. I loved them!!

  9. Oh I bet Chance liked that!
Good to hear the surgery went well.
52 pick-up- I'll have to remember that! My problem is I don't have enough places to put things!

  10. Our heat wave finally broke, with the temperature today 10-15 degrees cooler than yesterday. Much better and more comfy. Glad to hear the surgery went well and he's home. :-)

  12. Christmas ornaments? In August?

I suppose the job needs doing now if you want to be ready for Christmas.
Your cloud pictures look like oil paintings.

  13. Glad to get the update on your brother. Your cooler temps sound nice and I know Chance was glad to tag along on the drive. I have a closet full of pantry items that I cannot organize yet because we are waiting til the kit. floor can be put down. The guy we hired...his building has a sink hole under the front office which has really hurt his schedule!

  15. Like Country Gal I thought 52 pick-up was what you did when you dropped a deck of cards. Which I have done on more than one occasion.
I am wishing for rain and we actually have it in the forecast but this summer the rains we've had have hardly even settled the dust. Here's hoping for an inch at least!!

  16. Yay! Chance got to go for a ride. Isn't there an antique store you like to frequent in DL? I think I only know the name of that place, thanks to your blogs...

  17. That's a new twist on 52 pick up.
We cooled down today, but no rain in sight. Back up to hot by the end of the week.

  18. Beautiful clouds! I love those big thunderheads. Glad your brother is healing up. Gallbladder can be so painful before they remove it. One of the show hosts that used to be on MSNBC was from DL. I forget his name now. They canned him for no reason really. He had a beautiful house on a lake there. I love a good old Ben Franklin store! I don't think there are many left.

  19. 52 pick-up is a marvellous idea ! Anything that would encourage me to tidy is to be welcomed . There's a pile of papers , crossword puzzles and magazines on the coffee table that's beginning to look life-threatening ...

  20. 52 pick-up, eh? You set the bar pretty high, but you've done that for a long time! I love the dramatic clouds.
