Finally the Marigolds and the Salvia Victoria Blue are blooming in the little garden out front. The squirrels like to eat the flowers…or shred them.
Yellow, red and blue. I like those colors together in a garden.
I liked the Salvia I had last year better, she was called Lady in Red. She was a sprawly Salvia that reseeded readily in that spot throughout the summer. Oh well it is what it is and in six more weeks we will have a frost.
Today Far Guy said “ summer is half over.”
We have a family of rabbits, four or five of them hanging out together…running every which way when they see you. We also have one very obnoxious Chippy that keeps Chance entertained.
We have a heat wave headed our way…I hope you stay cool! Chance will only get his rides at night…no more trips to town for him until it cools off.
In six weeks a frost, what a thought.
ReplyDeleteWow, can't believe Summer is half over. I feel for Chance with the chipmunk that harasses him. I think a cat finally got the one that was digging up my garden. Please keep cool and safe during the upcoming heat wave.
ReplyDeleteMidway to the fall equinox is on August 1, so I'm holding out saying it's half over until we get there. :-)
ReplyDeleteFrost in 6 weeks? I am already looking forward to Fall as July and August are the hot ones here.
ReplyDeleteYup it appears the heat is going to be the whole country. Started here yesterday with some seriously awful storms NE of us and one thwap of thunder that made us all jump. Stay cool and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteJust got back from vacation and trying to get caught up on blogs. Your granddaughter is a beautiful girl, glad to hear she's not too old to still giggle.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers! Hard to believe summer is half over already.
ReplyDeleteWe got rain last night! YAY! Our heat wave is broken! Of course, now that means it's heading toward the rest of the USA, but three weeks of high heat is enough here. I hope yours doesn't last as long.
ReplyDeleteLinda
We're hunkering down for the heat wave here, too. I cooked ahead of time so I don't have to cook in the heat. Fun to see the color in your garden. Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty flowers--and Chance looks handsome, as usual.
ReplyDeleteYes! We have an extreme heat alert for a few days--whew! I don't remember having those before. Stay cool!!!! :)
Wow, I would love to say that we will have better weather in six weeks...just a cool down would be wonderful! I love your flowers...I like the blue best.
ReplyDeleteI see the wildflowers behind Chance are doing great. I use to plant marigolds every year. I don't know why I don't now. Your flowers have lots of buds to bloom yet.
ReplyDeleteToday started our heat wave. And it is already hot!! I love both red and blue salvia!!
ReplyDeleteI love blue and yellow together. I put those same marigolds in with my tomato plants. I have that blue salvia too but it isn't doing as well this year as it did last year.
ReplyDeleteOur summer has just started, it's been a very, very late summer. So, now that I'm pumped to experience some really nice weather (it's here today), I'm in no mood to hear, "summer's half over"!
ReplyDeleteI can see you going by and checking each plant everyday! I do the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI like that blue Salvia. Don't know why I didn't get any this year. We are supposed to get hot weather in the near future too. So far we have hardly had to use the A/C ( window unit only and that's in the bedroom).
ReplyDeleteI Love your Header! Is it easy to make? I think they are hard....You have such pretty flowers. Yes I thought the same, Summer is half over!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I have a scrapbook program that I use called Memory Mixer. :)
DeleteFor educators, summer is half over, and then we remember we are retired, and summer goes on and on.
ReplyDeleteThose squirrels must think you are a very kind host, with all those beautiful flowers to eat :)
