4th of July Parade 2016

The big parade was late in the afternoon.  It was a beautiful day, not too warm about 74 F and a breeze.  Here are some highlights from the parade.

There was more…logging trucks, towing trucks, fire trucks, politicians shaking hands. the parade lasted about 90 minutes.  Many groups threw candy from five gallon buckets… at the end of the parade kids watching had bags of candy.

Chance went along …he was a good boy and just ignored the horses.  There was only one dog in the parade and when the owner saw Chance she picked up her little dog.  Chance liked the beef stick samples that Main Street Meats handed out!

  1. It looks like Park Rapids had everything a good 4th of July parade needs, including perfect weather. Well, except maybe a fire truck. Those are some well-dressed horses!

  5. My kind of parade! The Wizards of KAZOO look like a fun bunch. Sadly, I think high school marching bands around here only march at games and in band competitions.

  6. Wow! They put on a nice parade there. And kids go home with a bag of candy--and Chance got treats, too. People you know in the parade (grande marshall--whoohoo!) and kazoos. Can't beat that. :)

  9. Nothing like a small town Independence Day parade. I have a hard time not scrambling out with the kids to grab a share of the candy....:)

Chance is well behaved. Rhett barks when he sees a horse or cow or.... Even if it's on t.v.

  12. You must be so proud of your Mom and Dad. Don't they look good riding in that convertible? I love a parade like that, and haven't been to one in years. I love those two horses in the last picture.

  16. The Grand Marshals were extra special. It sounds like a good parade, similar to the one in the small town where I grew up.

  17. Mom and dad were looked good in that car. I am glad they asked them to do that. I remember a few seasonal parades at Grand Rapids. They had a very large band and really worked the native American Theme with the costumes. It was a good day for your parade.
