Come along for a walk! It is June and there many new things to see along the driveway!
Smooth Solomon’s Seal or Polygonatum biflorum a Native Plant
The wild raspberries are looking good, we should have a good crop if we can stand to fight the skeeters.
This is Lonicera sempervirens a yellow variety, I sold this plant at the greenhouse and planted one out around the grain bin…mine died but it seems the birds have carried it all over the woods.
The yellow Lady’s Slipper was showing off. Her real name is Cypripedium parviflorum. She is perhaps my favorite flower…but you all probably know that.
We have seven Yellow Lady’s Slippers along the back driveway this year…so far…there may be a few more in a day or two.
This is a new addition to the driveway. Josh and Missy put up a flat stone with a small flower bed. The grass he seeded around it is coming up nicely. Josh is my nephew and he lives next door.
The yellow Lady’s Slipper, by far is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteBeautifull yellow Lady's Slipper.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful "walk". I love your Lady Slippers. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking me on the walk. I will join the others with admiration for your beautiful Lady Slipper. :-)
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have family right next door - especially family willing to haul big stones around for you. It looks nice already.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my walk with you. The pink lady slippers are out now.
ReplyDeleteIt's looking green and pretty in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteI like that little landscaped/architectural area. It almost seems like the rock should have some writing or a picture on it - - nothing gaudy but just something of interest. I like it when people do some landscape beautification like your nephew did.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the block in our rural subdivision, three neighbors' driveways split off from one road. One of the owners landscaped the corner with rocks and Hosta. It is really a pretty little spot in the midst of the overgrown woods behind it.
What a lovely driveway! I always enjoy your flowers...they are most unusual to me.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Skeeters? Surely, Minnesota doesn't have skeeters. ;o)
ReplyDeleteLove that lady slipper!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so lovely!
ReplyDelete(ツ) from Cottage Country Ontario , ON, Canada!
Quite a pretty walk along your driveway. That's a huge stone they put up!
ReplyDeleteLady slippers are always elegant. :)
Nice driveway. I wish I had yellow lady slippers along my driveway.
ReplyDeleteNice to see your native plants. I think I have that same honeysuckle, very aromatic in the evening. 'A flat stone', I think that's an understatement! Is the address going to be added to it? or names?
ReplyDeleteNot sure yet I think his name:)
DeleteLove the flat stone. I enjoyed my walk down your driveway!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Wish you were my neighbor. I would learn more about botany. Is the Yellow Lady's Slipper the same size as the MN state flower? I have only seen one once. It was in the wild at Long Lake Conservation Center when I was in high school. Did you hear about the one that disappeard from the MN Landscape Arboretum recently? WCCO is in Nevis, right? I enjoy their Going to the Lake series.
ReplyDeleteOops! Got the wrong week for WCCO in Nevis. It's June 23-24.
DeleteYes it is almost the same size, the pouch or slipper part might be a bit larger on the Yellow. I heard about the theft...hard to believe what some people will do :(
DeleteWhat a nice walk. Thanks for the invite. My little woods had a clump of seven this year but they were done about a week ago...;)
ReplyDeleteI like seeing your native plants. We have similar natives, but, slas, not that lovely lady slipper.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Everything looks so green and inviting--and nice and cool in the summertime shade.
ReplyDeleteI'll take the raspberries over everything! Is that flat stone standing up?
ReplyDeleteLove the stone and the lady slipper. Are you going to have the stone carved?
