After we got back home and had a nap we delivered May Baskets in our neighborhood.
Most everyone was off doing nice spring evening activities so baskets were placed in plastic bags and hung out of the way of
We found one smiling recipient!
Anna was home and promised to give her brother a basket!
We returned home and just as we were settling in for the evening Far Guy noticed some movement outside. Someone was bringing us May Baskets! He ran to the door and hollered “I am going to kiss you!” Giggling Girls ran away squealing! I got to the window in time to see them disappearing down the driveway.
Someday one of those four little girls will remember what fun it was to deliver May Baskets and keep the tradition alive!
May Baskets from Niece Stacey and her family.
I hope you all had a wonderful May Day!
That is such a lovely tradition. Our local school kids do that. Since May 1st was a Sunday do you think we'll get a basket today instead?
ReplyDeleteI read about it in the news yesterday, and some people were really glad that commercialism hasn't discovered the May basket. :-)
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth!
DeleteI told my mom, who has mild dementia, about your May baskets and she was so happy that someone still does that! And then there were the May poles. We never did that but have seen them. Beautiful sunny day here, but frosty outside. Quite a struggle winter and spring are having. My money is on the spring!
ReplyDeleteI remember making these as a child. It was so much fun to have these pretty little baskets to give away.
ReplyDeleteLaffs. Far Guy would have enjoyed those kisses I bet!
ReplyDeleteWarms my heart that there are people still doing May baskets. We used to do them as I was growing up and it was such fun!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! Paul and I were just talking about our memories of May Day yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI remember making these in grade school but you are the only person/family I know who has kept up the tradition. Kudos! :)
ReplyDeleteLove reading your blog, thanks for the post!
ReplyDeleteAww sweet that the 'favours' were 'returned':)
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet! I remember doing the May pole once in grammar school with the ribbons and weaving in and out...at least I think that was how it was done. I remember thinking it was pretty anyhow.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you were on the receiving end too! What a great tradition! My daughter does it with her 2 boys but I don't remember ever doing it.
ReplyDeleteI hope they will help to keep this tradition alive! It was such fun to deliver them when I was a girl!
ReplyDeleteCute! I always like to see what you've come up with!

Love to hear that the little ones delivered baskets to you and Far Guy. I have a feeling they will continue the tradition.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to read of someone still continuing the May basket tradition.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you received a basket as well.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a fun celebration. Now do you know who the giggling girls are?
ReplyDeleteWhat fun that you had your May Day kindness come back to you. I had saved the big origami sunflower I made last year and filled it with candy adaing for work. I took it in on Friday and filled it with more candy today. No school on Sunday, so before and after had to do.
