Seventeen

Oh to be seventeen again.
Paige says “Seventeen is a nowhere age, at sixteen you get your license to drive and at eighteen you are an adult.”

I called her one day last week and asked her to double check her birth certificate.  I must be in denial.
Paige at 17 years and one day
We met her at  DQ for a birthday treat and afterward she posed for the obligatory birthday photo. She recently cut her really long hair and just doesn’t think she will wear it up for prom…too many bobby pins involved.

We talked about prom, her classes and her thoughts about the future.  She is one of our very focused grandchildren.  She has her eye on the University of Minnesota or the University of North Dakota for eleven years.  She wants a career in medicine…possibly Dermatology…I mentioned about being a Plastic Surgeon…she said “That would be cool, Grandma I could give you some surgery!”  She scored 26 on her ACT tests and will take it again because she wants a 27…more scholarships are available to students with a higher score.  She is thinking way ahead as she is a Junior this year.  Her grade point average is 4.1 we asked how did you get the .1 and she said it is given to those students who take college classes in High School.

Recently she was named Captain of the Hockey Team for next season. Way to go Miss Paige!  We are so proud of you!

  3. She is definitely a focused student, and really good looking to boot. You made me smile with her reference to giving you some plastic surgery. She's a kidder, even if she's no longer a kid. :-)

  5. Isn't it great to know who you are and what you want to be. I don't think I was that grow-up at 17.

  17. Seventeen is not a nowhere age! Sounds like Paige is using it to build a smart foundation from which to launch some pretty ambitious plans. Happy birthday to a granddaughter who is making you so proud!

  18. It is nice to see high school students that have focus. Most do not anymore. When we drag kids through high school with D's just to graduate, you are lucky to have a hard worker.
