Everything is brown, except when it is white. The overnight white yields to the brown once again. The push pull of the seasons is like a war.
The wind blew, it spit snow/icy rain half the day. The high yesterday was 40 maybe… that would be 4 C eh.
You can hardly see them, but there are a pair of Sandhill Cranes on the edge of the plowed field and Wild Turkeys way back by the trees.
It is humid, the cold penetrates my old bones and makes them ache. I need me some sunshine! How about you …is it sunny where you are at?
Our weather forecasters say warmer weather is still a week away.
I think today will be another day in the 40s. But at least when I hear about snow in the Berkshires, I can feel smug about the rain we have down here in a less elevated part of the state.
ReplyDeleteFound the birds! We're still having up and down weather. A couple more nights with freeze warnings. I haven't checked the bleeding heart yet. Should have made it through the night. It was 33 degrees this morning, not the 25 that was forecast. That's OK with me. As you noted in your comment on my blog, our grass is green. I've mowed twice.
ReplyDeleteNo sunshine here yesterday or today. Had the same junk here that you had. Now it is snowing again. My bones are so screwed up from this weather they don't know whether to ache or not. I really feel sorry for the Robins as they sit in the street to keep warm and then the cars have to dodge them. Oh well, have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe are cold here too. It's sure been a crazy spring.
ReplyDeleteI hope spring arrives there soon. While I despise our spring storms and tornadoes I would not want to go back to the cold just now. The flowers are blooming and it is so pretty here. I hope you and FG have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteMore white this morning here.
ReplyDeleteIt got really warm here yesterday, but now all I can think about is whether my knee will be functional in the near future or not. I can walk but I can't walk fast. Our lilacs just bloomed.
ReplyDeleteIt was warm here - but the cold wind is back - and it destroyed the flowers on the trees.
ReplyDeleteIt has been cloudy, rainy, and cool here in Minneapolis. But they tell us there will be a warmup in about a week. Grass is green.
ReplyDeleteShirley H.
I would tell you about our weather, but I don't need enemies.
ReplyDeleteI enlarged the picture and saw the birds. Aren't turkeys about the ugliest birds? Cold makes my bones ache too.
ReplyDeleteWe were at 85 yesterday in Texas, and it really was wonderful. We do have those awful 100 degree days in the future, so enjoying this sunshine and warmth.
ReplyDelete78 here yesterday in Canada! 77 predicted for today, with slightly less warm continuing on after that. Wow, I feel for you, I would be feeling pretty darn depressed right now without some real good signs of Spring. Larry weadeated a foot of grass out of the ditch along the road yesterday. All the fruit trees are in bloom. Stuff is so early it's a bit scary. Hope Spring shows up at your place in the next few days.
ReplyDeleteIt's been in the 50s here, but the wind has been howling off and on - can't complain too much - typical spring weather.
ReplyDeleteWe are sunny and warm(10c , 48F). However it is very windy and dry. we need moisture.
ReplyDeleteHang in there , warm weather will come soon to your part of the world.
ReplyDelete(I sure hope for you).
Our weather and the brown sounds like here in Anchorage. I have not heard the cranes yet but they should be here any day now. I just love the sound they make. I like to sit out on the front porch and just listen to them and crack the window at bedtime so they can put me to sleep.
ReplyDeleteOur little dog needs special help every time he goes out. I never have enough things on to keep warm or my feet dry. I know we have had frost and ice on tulip plants before but it didn't last over one day. The below freezing stuff keeps my furnace confused.
ReplyDeleteSunny and 80 degrees here in Portland. But take heart, that means sunny weather is coming your way!
ReplyDeleteWe were well on our way to "green" around here until winter came back. I've never known a cold snap like this kill the leaves on the big hardwood trees. Our azaleas are done for too...turning brown.
ReplyDeleteIt got cold here again...although the sun is shining and it gets to the low 60's by afternoon but it's 30-40's at night. I think we are frost free now and it's perfect for working outside but today was so windy I couldn't stand to be out in it. This time of year the weather plays with all of us!
ReplyDeleteWe've had snow and wind all day, but now the sun is out and the snow has melted. The grass is greening, but I hope it doesn't start growing fast because I'm not ready to start mowing just yet! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI almost feel badly admitting that we have lovely sunny weather. 25 C ( 77 F).
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if this will last because we're way over the normal for this time of the year but I'm enjoying it while it lasts. Hope you get some sunshine soon.
Reporting from Wisconsin where it's snowing away right now as I type. Thought we might be in for an early spring....but it just seems to keep snowing. We have about 50 turkeys scrounging around on our back hill right now. There's hope in next weeks forecast though...so we'll see what we get. You'll get it first!!! Keep smilin'!
ReplyDeleteWe have had excellent weather - - - cooler nights and beautiful days - - - only a few have been hot.
ReplyDeleteHowever,we have already had two ticks in the house - - hitch hikers on pets/clothes. Not embedded fortunately but not welcome - - - especially with my Alph-Gal Allergy.
Oh, I am so sorry that your winter lingers so. Yes, it has been sunny and quite warm here in Seattle. Just lovely. After all of that rain, we are now getting spoiled.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful warm weather up here in the land of snow and ice (at least that's how some folks think of Canada). Had to turn on the air conditioning in the pick up this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThat week will get here before you know it! The sky was spitting here, too, in "sunny" California...but at least it was rain, not snow :)
ReplyDeleteIt's still cold and brown here in Sweden too.
ReplyDeleteWe are beginning to see more green but it has just been too windy here.
ReplyDeleteYou made me put my nose to the screen after taking off my glasses. I don't think I have ever seen sandhills in the wild. We are getting a very large population of wild turkeys. I am surprised we don't see them hit on the major highway.
