I haven’t had much luck taking photos at the St Urho’s Day Parade the last few years. Last year my camera card wasn’t in the slot all the way. This year my camera went nuts after I accidently hit a setting delaying every photo…some timer setting that I never use…do do do do. Far Guy said it was a sign…
Chance loved the parade, there was a whole bunch of sled dogs and puppies…cute as could be, I glanced up a few times as I was trying to fix the blankity blank setting.
The King and Queen arrive in style. The Nytes were busy handing out candy and grapes.
Fun was had by all except for stupid old me fiddling with camera settings. I finally got it figured out but by then the parade was over. The whole parade lasts about four minutes.
The road on the way home. The fields are bare only a little snow remains. It is cool with highs only in the 30’s to maybe 40 in the sunshine.
It looks way warmer than it is. Happy Spring! I guess it is offically here, but it doesn’t feel warm enough to be spring yet.
Oh, no! I guess it happens to all of us, and you only had four minutes to figure things out. Sometimes I get so intent on taking photographs that I'm not really present for the experience. Not smart!!
ReplyDeleteOh no that sucks when the camera goes wonky in the middle of good photo opps . You still got some good photos here though . Spring is here thanks goodness officially to but was here before for us , snow has been gone for a few weeks now and the sun has been shining and the temps have been warm , spring has sprung here and I am loving it, Hope the temps warm up for you soon . Thanks for sharing , have a good day !
ReplyDeleteYou reminded me of temperamental cameras in my own memories. Fortunately these days my camera is also my cellphone, easy and no settings at all! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe sky is blue, the Nytes are green. Looks like spring to me.
ReplyDeleteForgive yourself for your camera blunders.
Love the parade action you were able to capture.
ReplyDeleteWind has been cold here - blowing off of a snow bank somewhere. Smart people are still wearing jackets; "cool" people are jacketless and trying hard to hid their shivers.
We are still cold at night, below freezing 17* this morning, but the highs are in the high 50s* Love it. Happy Spring, Connie!

When the snow is gone, it is Spring!

You did good on those pics! It is to be 60 here today and it is terribly dry. We went to the holding ponds by the reservoir yesterday and they are bonr dry some thing I have not seen in 30 years! Not going to be good for the waterfowl and wildlife that rely on them during migration and summer.
ReplyDeleteMorning, what will be will be, loved the parade pics.Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteLooks a lot like spring! (Still snowing over here.)
ReplyDeleteCandy and grapes, eh? Interesting combo to hand out. Sounds like fun, though. I like the small town parades. GN and I were in Nevis for the Muskie Days parade and it wasn't much longer than the one you went to. Short and sweet, but enough candy for a kid. Your roads look bare in the photo. I passed three accidents on I-94 through the citry yesterday morning, due to ice and speed. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI've had a few surprises with my camera. there's just enough on it that you can set except if you don't know what you're doing you find it difficult to get back.
ReplyDeleteDarn cameras!!!!! Been there, done that. My wife used the macro setting at the Botanical Center for most every shot that she took. I didn't use it once as I am brain dead. You do know that her photos turned out perfect. Mine not so much. It can be an accident some days for me to get anything right. You should just pull up photos from two years ago. It isn't fair when it is a four minute parade.
ReplyDeleteMy new camera has a manual 2 inches thick and I can't make heads or tails of most of it. Plus it doesn't take any better pics than my old one. But it was a gift and I don't complain. much. I am sorry you missed most of your parade though.
ReplyDeleteIt was real nice yesterday....we had a road trip so didn't get to enjoy it as much...today the wind is from the east and smells like snow😕
ReplyDeleteIt still looks like home to me....just look at your pictures and you'll see the parade. BTW what is St. Urho's Day and who are the Nytes? Is it the Swedish/Norwegian/Finnish etc; version of St. Patrick's Day? I see they're wearing green and a little purple too. Looks like fun! Is there food too? I always like food after a parade....and something to drink too.
ReplyDeleteThe Iditarod website had fantastic coverage of the race and one of the hightlights was the daily mini blogs one of the guys did. Several times though he raced out to get pictures of someone coming in to a check point...without his camera card inserted ;-).
