Far Guy endured the surgery to remove his occluded port and it was replaced with another port on the other side of his chest. He will have matching scars. This port is set a little deeper and it is much more painful for him. We had really good nursing care, we had a nurse that was an old customer of ours. Far Guy is getting to know all the nurses in surgery and recovery since he has been there three times in the last four weeks…and that may have something to do with why he is not bouncing back very fast. His chest is swollen and painful to the touch…I am thinking I will let him do his own needle stick this week.
We are having quiet days at home. Walking Chance a few times a day and napping.
I have a variety of projects sitting on my desk and I work on them in between cooking and naps. Photo cards, scanning old photos and some knitting.
I really should make a “to do” list…but just dealing with the here and now seems enough for now.
March 1 was a complete lamb here. I saw a weather map yesterday showing Minnesota in bright red -- for a very warm three months ahead. So maybe you will be getting the benefits of that soon.

Your "here and now" seems enough of a challenge. You are doing well to get through each day, while watching your husband's progress. Blessings to you both.

ReplyDeleteThe beginning of March started of like a lamb then came roaring in like a lion for us here with a storm that carried freezing rain for us and lots of snow for others . ReplyDeleteOur March came roaring in with almost six inches of snow and it was really cold. Sorry to hear Far Guy is having pain with his new port. You both have been through so much lately; maybe it's time to just rest and heal. I'm sure the emotional as well as the physical strain of the past few weeks is catching up with you both. I will say a prayer for you both.

ReplyDeleteBitter cold is right: shirt-sleeve temps on Saturday and Sunday in Fargo, and wind chill of -15 on Monday! That's too extreme for me.

The to do list can be put aside, I'm sure. Taking care of Far Guy and Chance is a lot to do- and don't forget to take care of yourself too.

Dealing with the here and now is a good plan. When I become completely free from this school I will have to go back into a better pace. I am not walking Barney enough and he needs it. The semi warmer weather means he does stay outside longer and when he barks I welcome it as it is more exercise than laying in the middle of the floor. Take car Far Guy and lets home the healing goes fast from the invasive surgery. Spring would make us all feel so much better about life.

Ha ha - I think an earlier poster hit the wrong key and wrote "Fat Guy" instead of "Far Guy". Oh dear! I hope this gave Far Guy a little laugh and that didn't hurt his chest.

ReplyDeleteI hope things are on the mend when it comes to ports. We've had a long spell of very pleasant weather. Highs have been above zero for a couple of weeks.

ReplyDeleteSo sorry that Port had to be replaced,and going through all that pain is never fun. Hoping for fast healing and Sunshine around the corner! I don't do well in the Winter with no sun and I've had a cough that won't go away. The last time I went in they wanted to give me about ten Medications just because I'm about that age for taking them? I said No...if I die I die! She didn't like that one bit. I will never go back to her. She also said you look real depressed! I told her my Son was dying of Lung Cancer. She told me well, You shouldn't be That depressed!! I couldn't believe I had really heard that come out of her mouth! Some people told me to go to the Administration and tell them I need a new Doctor. We don't have very good Doctors out here in the Woods. Sharon

I seem to have been too preoccupied with my own tiny puppy problems of late and not getting to visit all my friends. So sorry to hear about Far Guys problems - my sincere hope that things begin to go a little more smoothly for you both now.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you both and hoping got continued healing for Far Guy! My hubby is in pain with a bad knee and he does not want surgery - he has bad side effects from anesthesia. He's 85 and our dr. agrees with him.

Sorry to hear about Far Guy's pain and complications, and yours. We went through a few weeks of medical stuff. It was exhausting for me and I didn't even think I was doing much. In retrospect, we're both still getting our energy back. Take care.
