Chocolate and Coffee

We travelled North to bring the granddogs, Miss Miney and Little Elvis to their own yard. We were happy to return them safe and sound and perhaps more spoiled!  We did some errands in Grand Forks ND and then met back at our daughter Jen and Andy’s home to hear all about the trip.
Hawaiian Chocolate
Jen loves Hawaii, and will go there any chance she gets, this time they visited Maui.  She took a bunch of photos, hopefully enough to last her until the next time she goes.  I think Andy and the boys were keeping a close eye on her before she got back on the plane…they were afraid she would just stay there!
Kona Coffee
We can have coffee and chocolates today and sit out on our patio where it was 64F  yesterday!  That is 17C eh!

I have never been to Hawaii, Far Guy was deployed there for several weeks.  I would like to go someday.  The kids flew out of Winnipeg Canada it seems flights were much more reasonable from there.

  2. A couple of decades ago, when I did a lot more travelling, I went to Hawaii three times, and visited almost all of the islands. There is nothing like stepping off the plane and catching that first whiff of tropical air! Maui was my favorite, and even though I'm sure it's changed, I would love to see it again!

  3. 64 degrees, coffee, and chocolate...what more could one want? The dog pictures in your last post are so good. Those dogs are so pretty!

  4. Dad was stationed there during part of World War II. He liked the island but was warned about the women in some parts. He believed his commander so drove fast through some parts.

  5. Hawaii is a wonderful place to visit. I prefer the big island: every time I've been to Maui it was too windy.

Enjoy the chocolates and coffee AND the warm temperatures.

  6. We went to Maui a couple of times when we lived in California, liked it, but can't say I loved it.

  7. Thanks for watching the dogs! Elvis has forgiven us but Miney is still pretty mad... Enjoy the coffee and chocolate. Maui was great but I am exhausted... now I need a vacation where all I do is lay on a beach and sleep. Love you!

  8. Supposed to get up to 64 again today, too! Hawaii looks marvelous when I see pics and videos, but I am such a Minnesotan to my bones that I would miss home too much to move away. :)

  10. Oh my- chocolate! I'm glad the temps are nice enough to enjoy sitting outside. I wish our weather would straighten up! Hey, I graduated from high school in Grand Forks, and lived on the base there for three years. Small world!

  12. A friend and I visited Honolulu (Oahu) a couple of years ago because the price of the flight out of Saskatchewan was the lowest it had been since the early 90's. For some reason the costs have remained very reasonable - I suspect that is why the price was good out of Manitoba. It's a beautiful place to visit, the temperature is so consistent, and of course Pearl Harbour has so much history. I hope you get a chance to visit one or all of the islands someday.

Enjoy the coffee and the chocolate!

  13. Coffe, chocolate, and 64 degrees -- about perfect! I've never been to Hawaii but I'd love to go. Maybe you can accompany your daughter next time the bug bites. I bet it's quiet around your house with only one dog.

  15. We were watching Hawaii Five 0 and my wife said it looks like a great place to visit. It just is not on our bucket list at this time. Chocolate is always on the list.

  16. Sounds like the perfect comination to me: coffee and chocolate. Enjoy! The best ice cream I ever tasted was at the airport on Maui. It was vanilla with kona cofffee, macadamia nuts and pineapple! Quieter around the house when you get down to one dog again, I'm guessing.

  17. The chocolate and coffee on the deck in 64 degree weather sounds wonderful! We are experiencing one Pacific storm after another and are getting very tired of the rain.
Tom and I went to Hawaii in December 1969, the year we were first married, as a sort of delayed honeymoon. We liked the sightseeing but have never been ones to just sit on a beach. We like to explore.

  20. I have never been to Hawaii either. It wasn't on Richard's list of places to go so we just never went. I doubt that I will ever travel like that again. And I head that Hawaii is very expensive. Chocolate and coffee sounds amazing though!

  22. Can't go wrong with coffee and chocolates! Funny about them flying out of Winnepeg (Larry was born there). Probably when our dollar was higher, a lot of people would cross the border and fly out of Bellingham or Seattle to get a better deal.

  23. So glad she got to go...you're next! Canada is looking good in more ways than one! Justin and his wife are here....gorgeous couple and you can tell they really love each other. He and Barack traded hockey jokes back and forth....it was cute. I love Hawaiian coffee....good stuff!
