Quiet

I am sometimes quiet, but not very often.  Sometimes when I am quiet I am just thinking, and sometimes I am just pissed.  Sometimes I just lose what little bit of tact that I have.

Some quiet things have been happening. Deaths, weddings and health concerns.

I hope when I croak that some people know about it before reading it on Facebook.  Social media is fine but how about an email to relatives first? Guess I better check my status every morning to make sure I am still alive.

Recently I was asked to keep quiet about some important things that concern me.  I have taken it under advisement but it would be totally out of character for me to shut up.

Recently Far Guy was shopping unaccompanied in a store, a lady blocked his path with her cart…he was trapped.  He said “Excuse me” several times…apparently she was deaf to all male voices.  She rammed him with her cart and his body was thrown into one of the shelves.  He was stunned that someone would intentionally try to hurt him…and he was quiet…I told him he should have fallen to the ground and screamed bloody murder.

  1. That's terrible! What ever happened to Minnesota Nice? I'd probably have been too stunned to do anything at the moment, too, though.

  2. What??? Why would anybody do something like that? I too would have made sure that everybody knew what had happened. Nasty woman. :-(

  5. I never will understand how people can be so mean and nasty. I hope your Far Guy was okay after that.

  6. That was shocking! What's wrong with people. I don't think I have ever intentionally hurt another person.

  7. That's terrible.

One time when the girls were young an adult shopper hit an elderly shopper so hard with the cart, it knocked him to the floor and overturned his cart. I arrived in time to witness my daughters helping him to his feet and reloading his shopping cart. I was very proud of my children but if I had arrived when it happened I might have come unglued.

  8. That woman that shoved a cart against Far Guy really committed an assault! I hope that Far Guy doesn't have any injuries from that.

  11. Oh my, do not get me started on the lack of manners these days. I have had multiple occasions lately where I was standing facing a shelf in a store, obviously making a choice, and someone literally walked between me and what I was looking at, their back towards me, without a glance or an excuse me or anything!!! I am having more and more a hard time being quiet.

  12. What the hell!? Cart rammed!!?? That is absolutely shocking! Falling on the ground and screaming (while holding your chest or left arm) would have served her right--but I'd never do it. ;)

I agree, as you know, that people should not announce deaths on facebook or blogs or twitter or any such social media until they have informed the immediate family...at least by email or text, for goodness sake Common courtesy and tact seem to be a thing of the past. Cart-ramming women is proof as to how far we have sunk, I guess.

I am not a quiet person, either. But if something concerns someone else's feelings that they don't want me to talk about I can be perfectly silent. No blog talk. Normally if I am silent in company--well, you know something is really seriously wrong--LOL!

  13. I do believe you would have heard a "What the hell are you doing?" coming very loudly out of my mouth. There would have been a scene.
I am by nature a "Quiet" person, but don't push my buttons!
It sounds like there is more to the story here. You found out about someone's passing on Facebook?
I hope breaking the silence a bit is helping.

  15. Your first paragraph is a classic. I'm sure many people could identify with it. Now the shopping cart incident. I think Far guy did the right thing. Who knows what else this loony might do?

  16. That was not nice at all , what a bitch. I would of told him to do the same thing or maybe not who knows what the old bat would of done if he did may of made things worse for him . Some people are just rotten to the core . Hope Far Guy is ok . I hear you, when I go quiet I am either tired or really pissed off lol ! Lovely flowers I am oh so waiting for spring . 17. Manners have become out of style, methinks. There is such a "me first" or "I'm entitled" mentality these days. Hope Far Guy didn't get too bruised up.
Sorry to hear that bit about Facebook. So many people think that the first thing they should do is post on Facebook without any thought of how it may affect others. But then again, there is that "it's all about me " mentality showing it's face again.

  18. Wow- some people are just pure D hateful. I dislike shopping and wish I was one of those fabulous folk who grow their own food and milk their own cows...more so every single time I come home from the store. It's not just there...people really are getting meaner every day. Gosh, don't get me started about fb and people telling things that should not be told. It's like a race to see who can share the bad news first so that person gets all the comments and attention. Anyways- I hope FG is ok. Really, he should have screamed out in pain...it would have scared the poo out of that rude lady.

  19. That is terrible, I hope FarGuy had no lasting effects from that attack. Not sure what I would have done in that situation, but I think I would have reacted somehow. Thankfully I haven't seen much in the way of that kind of rudeness.
When my mother passed away, I actually let my sister know by text. We had been texting back and forth because of the condition she was in the day before. The agreement was that she would receive the news by text, because we both knew that a phone call would just be a crying mess on both ends. After all the close relatives, which are very few, were notified, I did post it on Facebook to let Larry's side of the family know. They haven't seen my mother for a long time. Perhaps it was inappropriate, but it made sense to me. I could certainly understand if it was a younger person and was an unexpected death, but they all knew she had been in a care home for years.

    1. Hi Sharon, I am sorry you had to hear about your Dad's death on Facebook, that is just not right. I was trying to remember how we found out...and neither of us can remember. :(

  22. I'm disgusted with that rude shopper's attitude. Luckily I haven't had any such happen to me because I'm unstable enough on my feet. I hope FG didn't have any lasting effects.
My niece recently announced her pregnancy on FB which I thought strange, but at least that's good news. Not sad news.

  23. The last two years I sent Christmas cards to my cousin as usual, but she didn't reply. Was shocked this year when I got a letter from her daughter-in-law stating that my cousin had died nearly two and a half years ago - no notification at all. I don't understand that mentality.

  24. The shopping cart incident was an assault! Could the store have it on camera? I hope FG is okay. I'm thinking the lady needs a pokice report filed!

  25. Wow - what a rude lady! I don't think I could've stayed quiet.....I would've called that lady a few rude names....

  28. This world is getting worse because everyone think they are entitled and do no wrong. Sorry Far Guy had to be part of such rudeness!

  29. I'm into peace and quiet and not into this FB stuff.

  30. Yeah... Don't get me started on the whole just post it to FB and not think about everyone else who doesn't use it.
