The road up there was a little icy….but the sun was out and it felt so good to
They live further in the boonies than we do and the road gets narrower as you go. We met one snowmobiler and no vehicles.
We were a little late…took a wrong turn. Eventually we took the correct right turn. We were never lost LOST we knew where we were and how to get home.
Susan and Mike lived across the street from us when we lived in Regal Estates in Moorhead Minnesota in the mid 1970’s. We have kids the same age…she cried when she put Chadd on the bus for Kindergarten…I just waved happily goodbye to Trica. So we have been friends a good long time.
We always exchange Birthday and Christmas Gifts.
Guess what? Shiny Brites with Red Gingham Check design from the Poloron Corporation. They purchased the Shiny Brite Division from Eckmar about 1974 and went out of business in the early 1980's. A Poloron Trademark is on the box a red circle with a large P and the word Poloron.
Wonderful gift, wonderful lunch and wonderful friends.
For the record we are lunch and supper people. We have lunch in the afternoon and supper at 6 PM.
We're lunch and supper people also. When I was a child, it was dinner and supper, left over from my mother's farm childhood.
ReplyDeleteIt is always so nice to get together and keep in touch with old friends. Growing up we had lunch and supper. Now we call it lunch and dinner. Love your new ornaments.
ReplyDeleteAmazing shiny brites! Very different. She saw those and immediately knew where they belong. I have called it lunch and dinner for whole life. :-)
ReplyDeleteOld friends - so fun to have people who knew you in an earlier life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect gift for you! Lunch and supper for us.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift! And nice to finally see some sun.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful ornaments. A great gift.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in WI and we always had dinner and supper. Lunch is a fancyschmancy word I have only recently used. My forebears were farmers too and the field workers needed dinner at noon because of their heavy work. I am finally getting used to using the word lunch. What a snob.

Good you are out and about. Here that much snow would cause everything to come to a screeching, sliding halt.
ReplyDeleteWe do lunch and dinner, you're a brave soul driving on icy roads. I don't think I've ever seen gingham ornaments before.
ReplyDeleteGingham Shiny Brites? Who knew! They are as lovely as they are unique.
ReplyDeleteOn the farm, the noon meal was dinner, and the evening meal was supper.
Lunch and supper/dinner people here. Lunch rarely before 1pm and supper usually after 6, and many times closer to 7 or 8. If no one else wants to make it, they have to wait until I get around to it;-)
ReplyDeleteLunch for us is about 12pm and supper is 5:30ish pm some times on the weekends we have brunch , lunch and breakfast combined at about 11am . Glad you had a good visit and found your way eventually ! Pretty shiny brights . Thanks for sharing , have a good day !
ReplyDeleteYou do the right thing by getting out. Too many people just stay in the house and only go out when they have to.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I've ever used the word supper. Lunch and dinner here.
ReplyDeleteLunch and dinner here but lunch and supper when I was growing up. And my grandma on the farm always had dinner at noon (on the dot!) and a "little supper" about 6.
ReplyDeleteWe do dinner and supper here...big meal at noon. I sometimes forget that when I invite folks for dinner and they don't show up until supper....supper is leftovers😉
ReplyDeleteThat was a fantastic gift. We are lunch and dinner here at my house!!
ReplyDeleteLunch and either dinner or supper. I would come to either call. ;) Seemed to be used interchangeably when I was growing up, but I probably hear dinner more now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect gift for you!!! That's a good friend. :)
Oh Connie, I love the red gingham balls, always loved gingham.. Nice gift and get together.Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteOh wonderful! A Christmas post!!!!! Shiny Brites makes it a Christmas post, right. I love the gingham look. Very lovely gift. Your friends know you well!
ReplyDeleteI say lunch and supper too! How nice to remain friends all these years. Sounds like a great time and what a perfect gift for you. Love the gingham check.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great view of your scenery...I love the snow. On the other hand, I had the windows open today but we have high fire danger too. I'm trying to enjoy it here as I am hoping it is my last winter here and that next winter I will be in the frozen North! And on top of the ground if you get my drift. What wonderful friends you have and I love your new Shiny Brights...I love gingham too. I eat twice a day...once in the morning but some would call it near lunchtime and then again about the time the news comes on.
ReplyDeleteIt works for me. Toodles!
Beautiful shiny brites - what a great find/gift! We are also lunch and supper people and are always perplexed if somebody invites for dinner (what time?) Hee Hee!
ReplyDeleteSome people have a knack for finding just the right gift. I am NOT such a person but I wish I were. Your friend obviously is and did find a treasure for you to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWe are lunch and dinner people. Dinner is the big meal of the day, in the evening.
