It was still stormy all day on Monday. We stayed put, no sense being out there on the roads unless you have to…and we didn’t. My other baby brother came by with his huge snow blower and took care of our driveway and yard.
The little Red Polls were really hungry.
The wind blew and we shoveled the walk and part of the patio.
We watched the birds from inside.
It was a quiet day, I put a roast in the oven along with 2 Ibs of carrots …some comfort food on a stormy day. Cooked carrots are one of my favorite vegetables.
I watched a movie, The Best of Me I kept watching mesmerized by the drama as it unfolded one tragedy after another…what does this writer have to write such tragic love stories? How many good people can get shot in a movie and it still be considered a love story? ( I really liked the part where Gerald McRaney shot up the pickup truck.) If I had paid more than a Netflix subscription for this movie I would have walked out half way through. It just gets 2 out of 5 stars from me. Then last night I watched The Bachelor…good old Ben Higgens must have bought stock in Chapstick…but he surfaced from kissing his girlfriends long enough to get rid of the two troublemakers …so I am encouraged…his parents probably would have seen through them anyway.
Good Morning, Love the bird/snow photos. Glad you are safe at home. Roast and carrots sounds delicious. We love carrots, too. We've had very windy weather,,,rattles the windows!
ReplyDeleteMy morning giggle: Ben Higgins and his chapstick!
ReplyDeleteLove all the birds at your feeder. Glad you stayed inside as it was probably very slippery outside - it sure was here. Your movie comments made me smile - thanks for the smile.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a way with words. I haven't seen either of those movies but I also have a Netflix subscription and don't pay more than that for those movies either. Makes it much less painful to watch a stinker. Love the bird pictures! :-)
ReplyDeleteAh - such pretty shots.
ReplyDeleteWhat a big crowd you had at your bird feeder. The little guys must be really hungry.
ReplyDeleteI know they appreciate your food. Thanks for feeding them.
Shirley H.
Oh I love those sweet little birds.Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of all the birds at the feeder. Cooked carrots are good, but I'm not crazy about munching on a raw carrot.
ReplyDeleteThose birds d look hungry!
ReplyDeleteGlad I didn't watch that Netflix movie. I don't follow the Bachelor.
Good time to stay in and be warm and safe. :)
Wow, that's a lot of hungry birds. The wind is blowing like crazy here and the birds are hanging onto our feede for dear life. We had a couple male bluebirds in our yard and yesterday a robin. Won't be long and they will be coming your way.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos ! I find when a storm is to come our birdies go crazy on the feeders and they cover it just like your photo lol ! Gloomy out here Snow squalls on watch later rain snow sleet for now windy and cold a good day to be in watching movies and cozying up with a good hot comforting meal . Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteWhat a whack of redpolls! I get the ones and twos but not a pile.
ReplyDeleteEnjoying the birds, comfort food, movies...that's what these cold winter days are made for! And that's an impressive group of redpolls.
ReplyDeleteI see all the Red Polls in Minnesota know your address well.
ReplyDeleteLol, you made me laugh. I went to the Grand Ole Opry once and told my friend that if it were on the tv...Id'a shut it off.
ReplyDeleteThat little bird is cute :) We survived the wind over here (lots of snow off of the prairie in our yard). I enjoyed the book "Best of Me" much more than the movie (saw the movie while reading the book). Stay warm over there.
ReplyDeleteLove your bird pictures. I am not much of a movie person! And I haven't jumped on the Bachelor bandwagon yet! But I liked what you had to say
ReplyDeleteI love the snow and bird pics, and I can smell that roast in the oven. I love roasted carrots too.
ReplyDeleteThe Bachelor - no thanks.
I like that feeder! So many birds at once. Do you have to fill it up partway through the day?
ReplyDeleteThe redpolls have finally moved in on the goldfinches. The finches come in the morning, then the redpolls take over around noon. I love seeing them, such a beautiful sight with all those little red heads bobbing around.
I don't think we will ever see red polls. I do keep an eye out for new kinds but the pine siskin is the only one I have see new in years. I want to get a seed sack again but don't see them at Wally mart.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to spend a snowy cold day. I'm with you on the carrots. I put lots of them in every roast, stew, or braised meat. And I love them steamed with lemon butter and parsley. I love Netflix because I can freely turn off something without feeling I've lost good money.
