How cold is it? Pretty cold…
* WIND CHILL READINGS... AS LOW AS 35 BELOW.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS... MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
I read this after I walked the dog in my shirt sleeves and my crocs…it was a tad chilly out there.
Seems another storm is headed this way on Sunday. Snow and wind. More fun.
We ran some errands yesterday so we are good to go. When we get a clear day the temperatures drop. It was nice to see the sun but it nearly blinded me!
We have been watching the progress of the renovation of the Grocery Store in Osage. The guy that bought the store has been working in all kinds of weather, the rumor is that it will be a Grocery/Hardware Store and will open May 1st! It will be nice to have the store open again.
They took the whole roof off and are rebuilding. Looks like the new entrance might be on this side…just have to wait and see.
It was another sad week in local news. Our sympathy to all those who have lost a loved one this week.
A local fellow was killed in a snowmobile accident one night. I went to school with his sister and I knew his wife…they have a 13 year old at home…he was young…57. His Mom still lives on the old farm place…she must be incredibly sad.
This was also a sad week for our friends Gravy and Dawn. Gravy’s sister had Lewy Bodies Dementia. It is a progressive dementia often misdiagnosed. Lewy bodies are protein deposits that develop in the nerve cells in your brain. It is a horrid disease for which there is no cure… they think that Robin Williams may have had Lewy Bodies Dementia. Gravy’s sister was 61 years old.
A 33 year old Police Officer was shot and killed by a nut case in Fargo North Dakota. Fargo has not had an Police Officer shooting death since the 1880’s.
So we should all make the best of everyday that we are upright and feeding ourselves.
Good news and sad news.
ReplyDeleteDo they name the storms in your part of the world?
Our Met Office just started in about November. And it seems all the storms have wreaked ghastly havoc (much flooding in the North of England and Western Scotland). We have worked our way through to Storm Imogen - or maybe we have reached H and I have lost track.
The Chef is in Switzerland as usual and he tells me they have just had Storm Susannah.
It really is hard to keep up.
Brrrr! I am surprised you walked Chance without realizing how cold it was! Some very sad news in your part of the woods today. :-(
ReplyDeleteGood advice there. I'll stop complaining about the cold - which sounds just a tad less bad than yours - and embrace my day indoors.
ReplyDeleteSad for the loved ones of all those people. And brrr...I remember that kind of cold all too well. Even if it doesn't warm things up much, the sun always makes you feel a little more optimistic. Enjoy your weekend. Are you participating in the Cornell Backyard Bird Count? We are! We have a flock of bluebirds hanging around along with the usual winter diners. Can hardly keep the feeders full. We'll try to keep them fed and happy until it's time for them to head back north.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about all the losses there the world has gone mad I say . Yes we are in a deep freeze with lots of heavy snow squalls white outs and wind chills and also have warnings out for it all our winter arrived very late but it did arrive lol ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good weekend stay safe and cozy !
ReplyDeleteLosses are hard. My sympathies to their loved ones. It always seems harder the younger they are.
ReplyDeleteStay warm.
We are not that cold but got the same weather warning.
ReplyDeleteThings are so bad ,what is going to happen next?
There are some nut cases in Fargo.
ReplyDeleteSays -2, feels like -20 right now. I am so glad Karma goes in a cat box. Whew! ;)
Terry lost a very good friend last week to snowmachine accident. It's all sad. BUT he was doing what he loved to do. At our ages we need to really think about...what do we want to do when we go out.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Young deaths are always extra sad. There are generally a few or more snowmobile deaths here in this province, every winter. Generally due to avalanches, often human caused.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for those who have lost loved ones.
ReplyDeleteI know it will be nice to have the new store open up.
You guys be careful in the severe cold.
We are due to have ice accumulation on Monday.
Happy Valentine's Day. xo
Stay warm and be safe with the nasty weather. I can't say the same about dementia. Dementia seems to do what it wants to us and we don't have any solutions.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine 35 below! The wind chill here tomorrow is supposed to be around 7. We don't get that very often. So many sad stories in the news. I love to see a new store open in town!
ReplyDeleteNow that is what I call stupid cold. Brrr! The coldest we got here this winter was -14 Celcius, that's around +7 Farenheit.
ReplyDeleteMy dad had Lewy Body Dementia. THey say form 2-6 years of life once it's diagnosed.
*from* not form
DeleteOh my gosh! 35 degrees below. That is way too cold. I can see why you thought my 74 degrees would have been too hot! My son is a police officer. I am sick of all these shootings. His life is very important too!!
ReplyDeleteStaying upright sometimes is a challenge so I stay off of the ice. Things do seem bad as the world is working with a different morality code these days. We have so many weekly deaths in the big city than we use to.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and warm and cozy! Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteSure was a clear sky today, but the temp . . . brrr! So sorry about your sad week. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words and support, God bless you both.

ReplyDeleteAll we can do is pray for those who are suffering or struggling and there are probably some in every family...some struggles and suffering worse than others. Glad you got some sun and the grocery store is looking good!
