Earlier in the day we took down the downstairs tree. I organized some of the ornaments into a different storage container…and parted with a few. One was broken, a few others just needed to go into the garage sale box. Why is it when you de decorate the tree there is always one ornament left behind that you don’t discover until everything is carted upstairs?
No this wasn’t the one left behind. This one has it’s own box and was carefully packed away. It was a gift from Jen to her Dad.
I have made no resolutions. Only intentions.
I intend to add photos and obituaries to as many of our relatives as possible at Find A Grave. I decided this was really important when I found two of my Uncles in the wrong cemetery. Their graves have been transferred to me on Find A Grave.
I intend to add at least five recipes a week to an app on my new I Pad that my other baby brother gave me just before Christmas. I haven’t figured it all out yet…it is a learning process.
I intend to organize the photos on my computer and actually print some photos of the grands.
I intend to work on the old diaries from Far Guy’s Grandparents. Last winter I left off in October of 1921.
I don’t intend to take up jogging, golfing, scuba diving, mud wrestling or sky diving.
I would like to find time to paint and draw, and lay around in a hammock in the summer breeze.
The road home last Monday just before sunset.
Thanks for reading! Happy New Year!
Here's to a good new year to all us and our furry pals too. Now we have to get used to writing and thinking 2016. I was just getting used to 2015.
ReplyDeleteShirley H.
Happy New Year - no resolutions for me, just some lists and goals. You will love the iPad. I use mine more than I thought I would.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Connie! I love your intentions and intend to do the same. You might want to reconsider taking up skydiving, since there's a hole in the sky since I gave it up! (Just kidding) :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plan :-). Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThat has happen to me too, wrong graveyard and can not get it changed so for.
ReplyDeleteOn find a grave.
Sounds like you've got some good intentions!
ReplyDeleteYour intentions sound sensible and good! The old diaries sound intriguing. The older I get, the more important it seems that the works, whether writings, recipes, art or handiwork, of our previous generations are saved and shared.
ReplyDeleteI see you included the snow covered road to good intentions--LOL!
ReplyDeleteI just have a big goals/to-do list every year. No resolutions for me, either. But I do intend to add a couple new things to my mornings. Happy New Year!! :)
Happy New Year, Connie!
ReplyDeleteLinda
Happy New Year to you, too.
ReplyDeleteWe had a quiet night too, punctuated by fireworks going off from 10 to midnight but we didn't bother getting up to watch. Tess was not happy about fireworks! Happy new year to you all.
ReplyDeleteWe were home, too. One of my goals is to have good posture - - shoulders aligned with hips. I don't want to get a dowager hump!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Love your intentions and especially the ones you have no intention of doing. Best wishes for wonderful 2016
ReplyDeleteAw Shucks! No mud wrestling???
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you all! I had a quiet New Year's Eve too but it was so nice...I love peace and quiet..lol. I shared some sausage, cheese and crackers with the girls and we were asleep by 10:00 p.m.! Ha! Ha! I haven't made it to midnight (or even tried) in many, many years. I hope this is a healthy, happy and peaceful year for all of us!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Quiet night for us too. Went out for Chinese food and then home. Thank you for continuing your blog. You are the first thing I read each day. Here's to a wonderful 2016!
ReplyDeleteWe watched the Star Wars movie Thursday and grabbed a sandwich before coming home. Nothing special other than we went to bed early and got some much needed sleep. We are in a pretty much hermit like mode and will stay to ourselves for as long as we can. I know work is around the corner so I am trying to do nothing. I enjoyed both of your trees. When I photograph ours they seem to look differently each year. Saw a good book about Christmas trees at the bookstore. I bet I blog about that soon. I didn't buy the book. Take it slow moving into this new year, both of you.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Connie! I like your idea of intentions, I think I will adopt the same concept.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you both, and indeed the whole family. And I don't intend to take up alligator wrestling. I think I might struggle to get the right insurance.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Connie, sounds like you have se some reasonable goals. I wish you Health and Happiness in the the New Year!
ReplyDeleteSo a very quiet evening was enjoyed. I like your style: get after those Christmas tree decorations right away. I'm going to work at copying my slides and photos. Yes, I know it' a big job.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Connie, all the best to you and yours.Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Sounds like you've got alot of great plans for the new year. Good for you! May it be a great year for you and all those you love!
ReplyDeleteI haven't even thought about my intentions for the new year. Maybe when I get all these boxes emptied I will be able to think a little farther ahead.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good list to me...I think I should steal the recipe app idea...sounds way better than having a greasy binder full of scribbles.
ReplyDeleteThe Find A Grave project is a very worthy one. Tom uses that organization and it is important that the information is accurate.
ReplyDeleteOne of my goals is to sort, reorganize and cull photos from my hard drive.
I'm going to start taking down the trees tomorrow. I also find at least one ornament on the tree after the boxes have been put away. This year we found one that never did get discovered until we were setting up the tree for THIS Christmas but seeing as it was a green star I guess it's understandable that I missed it.
ReplyDeleteWell, I discovered that, in California at least, there is no way a person can usher in the New Year quietly. It's fireworks at midnight. Popping away like popcorn starting up in the microwave--only it was outdoors.
ReplyDeleteYes, Find a Grave is a wonderful site, but for whatever reason, there are a lot of mismatched entries and other misinformation on there. It will take a lot of cleaning up. Bit by bit...
Enjoy your new iPad. It will be a great diversion for you when you are lolling around on your hammock in the summer breeze--provided no one turns on the lawn sprinklers "accidentally" while you're out there ;)
Great intention indeed!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.....I am a regular reader of a blog who also reads your blog (sheesh). I love your photos, very lovely.
ReplyDeleteThen you mentioned a recipe app on your new (?) i-pad. I have been using "The Recipe Box" on my i-pad for a little over a year, and really love it. It's not free, but is so beautifully put together. I have been transferring recipes on it and have all of my Mom's handed down recipes in place, but I couldn't bring myself to toss out her handwritten recipes or the cute birdhouse recipe box she painted for me and my sister. Another neat feature is the ability to transfer recipes to someone else (but they must have the same app and be at your house, lol).
Given you're in Minnesota, I think it might be awhile before you have a chance to enjoy the summer breeze!
