It is a mixed box with some interesting ornaments.
The elongated teardrops. One has a solid crimped metal cap marked West Germany, the other has a ribbed scalloped metal cap marked Shiny Brite. Shiny Brite made this style ornament and this style ornament was also made in West Germany. I think that these are both West German Ornaments and one cap was lost...but one can never be sure.
I don't have any elongated teardrop ornaments, I have some regular teardrops. I will be getting them out soon and taking some photos.
I have two real heavy blown glass ornaments that I purchased from Auntie Esther's garage sale so the two real heavy red and green new ornaments will join them on our downstairs tree.
I know I am slow with the trees I may get some time later today...maybe.
How sweet of your daughter. The Santa is wonderful, especially peeking through the teardrops in your photo.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that someone still treasures these wonderful ornaments.
ReplyDeleteWell, your daughter sure knew how to make you happy all right. These are fun to look at and I know I'll be seeing some of them on the tree soon. :-)
ReplyDeleteI helped Stella put her tree up over the weekend. She has three boxes of Shiny Brites. I was so excited :-D.
ReplyDeleteI too like vintage ornaments and have many that are looking very old. I am also slow this year with getting Christmas things out, it is not as much fun any more.
ReplyDeleteI remember a bunch of those ornaments as my mother had them. She also had the nice ornament box as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat find! We used to have those elongated teardrop ornaments when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that so much information is available on products that have been out of production for years. They know when and where it was made and on and on.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of more than one tree, I may look for a small one so we can have 2 next year.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ornaments - lots of memories in that box, which is nice and sturdy.
ReplyDeleteCool!!!!

How wonderful . just think of how far they could of traveled before you got them what Christmas stories they would tell if they could of Christmas years gone by . Doesn't feel much like Christmas here even though I have done my decorating the temps are 16C or 63F with sun shine here and there and rain lots of rain why if this rain were snow we would be under 20 feet of it by now thank goodness it isn't snow . We will have a green Christmas they say this year again and maybe a green winter to ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteCool find! Now if only they could talk, those ornaments:) I'd like to know how much Jen paid, not that I have any idea what those ornaments are worth, but I like a good thrifty buy!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great find. If I were you I'd keep the shiny brite tree up till spring after all the work to put it together and how beautiful it is. Or maybe just leave it up year round--LOL! ;)
ReplyDeleteSo fun to see all of your collection of ornaments! Not "old" ANTIQUE! :)
ReplyDeleteYou hit the jack pot on new old ornaments.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with them.
What a great find! I love old ornaments like these.
ReplyDeleteAfternoon, such a great find, they are becoming harder to find here. Have not found any in a while so I will treasure the old ones I have.Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteI love the old ornaments from the trees I used to decorate as a child. I've noticed there are a lot of the bubble lights back in the stores.
ReplyDeleteOh but you do go to a lot of work....but it's a classy kind of work😋
ReplyDeleteOh, I like all your new Old ornaments! What a nice surprise from your daughter, huh? I can't wait to see pictures of your trees when you get them all put together! Merry Christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteOoo - what lovely ornaments! You must have a huge collection by now...
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a great find. And so thoughtful of your daughter to get them for you.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! New old ornaments to study and research. Cool stuff for any collector.
ReplyDeleteWell??? Did "maybe" happen???
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about that Santa. Highly collectible? You are amassing quite the interesting collection, yourself!
You could write a book on identifying Christmas ornaments. Thanks for the photos. They're beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHey, you have spotters out there bringing them in. The grandkids can get a little older and they could get on the hunt. I like the new older ones. The elongated I have only seen in antique catalogs. It is a good collection.
