Odda came a visiting yesterday. We have been unable to discover what scares her. ..sometimes it is gun shots, sometimes if she knows a butchering is going to happen there on the farm she runs off. Sometimes I think she just wants to visit. Sometimes it is as if she knows we will call Jo to come and get her and she will get extra attention. We are her safe place.
She and Chance get along just fine. Putz stays at home and doesn’t follow her. She is so happy to see us, her tail wags ninety miles per hour!
Chance and Odda ( Bernese Mountain Dog)
I sat outside with her for awhile, then she came inside to visit. I decided to take her back home and about that time Steve came to get her. He was disgusted with her…like all dog owners he wants her to stay home.
The sun was out but the wind was cold. Our high for the day was 21 F or –6 C eh!
Odda just misses her friends and had a deep longing in her heart to visit them!! A long time ago when I was in high school, we lived in a small town. There was a sweet Beagle dog who used to make the rounds of bunches of houses all day long and even nap at some. He always went home at night though. He just loved everyone and was gregarious.
ReplyDeleteIt is always nice to see Odda on your blog with Chance. Funny how he comes to call periodically.
ReplyDeleteMy computer is working for now, so I will wish you guys a blessed Thanksgiving week.
A high of 21 F is getting nasty. Our highs for the week are below 0 eh? Yesterday and today we have highs plus 5's eh?
ReplyDeleteBrrr! I thought it got cold here, but it's ten degrees warmer than what you got. Course, you're in MinneSNOWda. :-)
ReplyDeleteHate seeing that snow in your yard but then this is MN and we have to put up with it! No snow here in MPLS yet, but one of these days! It's cold, though - in the 20s.

Odda just misses you all ! I love Bernese Mountain Dogs one of my friends had one years ago such lovely dogs . Chance must love having Odda there . Sunny here but cold temps are 0C eh? or 32F the winds are making it feel colder though , the little dusting of snow we had is all gone went yesterday after a few hours then it poured rain all afternoon and evening ! Thanks for sharing lovely photos , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteOur low was 16 this morning, our first hard freeze. I'm not ready for winter...mentally.
ReplyDeleteI have always been fascinated by this breed. I am glad Odda has a safe place. I can understand the frustrations of the owners though. Thank you for being such a kind neighbor.
Odda is beautiful. I hope she doesn't have to cross any busy roads to get to your house.
ReplyDeleteThe blue sky is so pretty with the white stuff on the ground.
ReplyDeleteME thinks Oda loves Chance! And a chance to VISIT!

I met a Bernese Mtn. dog once and he was gentle and loving. Perhaps Oda simply wants to visit whether its Chance or you and Far Guy. Wouldn't we all love a safe place?
ReplyDeleteEverybody needs to get out once in a while! Chance and Odda look great together. Stay warm, Connie!
ReplyDeleteI think just gets a bee in his bonnet and needs to visit friends! He is so cute and I'm sure you all enjoy his visits. We have a little Scotty up the road that is very social. We were invited to another neighbor's for a pig roast and when we arrived, there was Toby in the driveway of these neighbors, greeting everyone who came. His owners hadn't even gotten home from work yet. Dogs!
ReplyDeleteOdda is a gorgeous dog. On my walk this morning I met a woman with a lovely big dog, a cross of Cane Corso and Rottweiller. Very friendly too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Odda just wants to get out and about and spend some time with her good friend Chance ;)
ReplyDeleteHow fun, Chance had a doggy play date!
ReplyDeleteI think I would like a visit from Odda! She and Chance are such beautiful dogs.
ReplyDeleteI like your red bird houses/feeders against what will now be a black and white scene.
Oh that's cold! Our black lab used to run up to our neighbours when something here scared her. If she was outside and heard the smoke detector go, off she went.

ReplyDeleteShe is such a beautiful dog! They look good together.
ReplyDeleteGood thing she considers your place her safe place and she doesn't just run off willy nilly. ;)
I think Odda is asking the smartest, most handsome Border Collie on the planet some "tips" on attracting some 'babes".
ReplyDeleteAs long as he KNOWS she comes there - he just as well get over being irritated. And as long as you don't mind her coming. The only way to fix it is figure out what is bothering her to make her leave.....
ReplyDeleteOdda is such a great looking dog. I think they are smart enough to know that it is entertainment and she really isn't going to get into much trouble. I take a friend of mine's dog home every once in a while as the kids leave the gate open. I holler Jake and he comes to the car and crawls into the back seat and breathes down my neck. He loves to scout out the town but he would never leave the 5 kids that love him so.
ReplyDeleteBRRRR... Snow. It's spring here in Tasmania, thank goodness. My Sister & Brother in Law have a couple of Bernese dogs. They are right into the Dog Show scene & travel all over the place with them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty girl she is. MY neighbor just moved with her 2 dogs and now Nitty goes and waits by the fence but they won't be coming outside...I feel so bad for Nitty and I try to explain but she just keeps waiting...every day. She and Snow were good friends.
