Little Things

I have been thinking that I need a shop vacuum for my garage…Far Guy agreed.  So we went to the helpful hardware place.  Finally a shop vac that can stay put…I won’t have to search for it and the accessories and then an extension cord.  Far Guy even gave me my own extension cord!

I can vacuum my car when ever I want cause it is handy!

Surprising what makes you happy when you get older.  Now I can get busy cleaning up my garage…and yes that makes me happy.

I have mastered the 2 gallon gas cans…who ever designed that green cap thingy that has to be lined up just so should be shot.  If it is such a great design then why did I get gas all over my hands…it is supposed to be a no spill gas can?  Some things make no sense to me at all.  Obviously I need some remedial gas can training. I am happy with the size of the gas cans just not happy with the green thingy.

We cut down some of the brush that has been hitting me in the face when I mow…that is a relief.  The Thornapple has been removed it was threatening to decapitate me or at the very least scar my shoulder and arms every time I passed by on the lawn mower.

I made some more glass flowers.

A glass, a plate, ash tray and a vase.  This is one of my favorite pieces!

I hope you have had some “little things” in your life lately that make you happy.

  1. I had to take my new gas can into the station and ask the attendant how to use it. Not much at reading directions. She was a valuable asset.LOL Love the flowers, they catch the light so well. It is the simple things in our lives that really make us happy. It just takes a while to learn this.

  3. I know what you mean about things that are supposed to make life easier and all they do is make mine harder. A little thing that makes me happy is reading all the blogs every morning, especially yours.

  4. I have to agree with Cathie and Linda: reading your blog every morning is one of the little things in life that make my day better. I love both of those pretty glass decorations. :-)

  8. One of our newest "little" things is a Garden Weasel Tool that picks up the larger nuts. It is a wire oval wheel that rolls over them and traps them in the cage. Amazing how much time and energy that is going to save us -- - - and no more bending over to pick all those boogers up!!!
Also, I generally get your blogs read but not always commented on. The one about the infusion was dramatic. It is great you know how to do what you are doing and have others to call when you need them. Now tell FG's body not to scare you by not giving the backflow. Praising God though that the infusions seem to be keeping him healthier and stopping the deterioration of the lung function. Also, loved hearing the report on the test results of the family members.

  9. I have seen a lot of glass yard ornaments at craft sales and flea markets, but none as beautiful as yours! That is why I have not bought one yet...

  10. I'm with you on the gas cans not making me happy though. I HATE those no spill ones as yes, they always spill, on me, in the car, blah blah. I'm considering just going back to the old Jerry Can ones! Loving your glass flowers for sure. Now are you putting these in random spots in your yard or doing a garden of them?

  13. The new shop vacuum sounds like something I would get excited over. And your very own drop cord! Your glass flowers are pretty! I would not know how to begin putting those glass pieces together. I've caught up reading all your posts I've missed. That carved Trillium is amazing! You have really had to become a nurse and sounds like you are good at it. My nerves would be shot!

  14. Your glass flowers are beautiful but I would have to use chipped or cracked ones. I know it's silly.

I celebrate your vacuum with you. Handy to have one for just that spot.

  16. I had to google shop vacuum to find out what you meant. We would probably call it a Henry. And very useful too. Enjoy your garage when you have finished your tidy up, and good luck with the ghastly sounding anti-spill container.

  17. I would be very excited about a vacuum cleaner that I didn't have to drag in and out of the house to clean the car. Last time I did it I got two fire ant bites for my trouble. Not fun. Your latest glass flowers are your best, sez me. :-)

  19. My DH had several shop vacs in various conditions, the most common being a coaster( or is it caster?) missing so you couldn't pull it along. When we got one just for the garage ( as opposed to his shop out back) I was pretty happy about that.

  20. My gas cans are all old so I haven't run into that problem...yet. You just reminded me that after all this painting, weeding, spraying and rock hauling I am going to need to clean my garage too. Oy Vey.....will it never end? I'm thinking a townhouse is starting to look good to me!
I love your glass garden ornaments and I love the green one too...it reminds me of the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz for some reason.

  23. The glass flowers are great. I like red and that one is so neat to see. I finally figured out my new small gas container but I was just unscrewing the cap and cursing it for a while. Now that I know how it makes for a good design. I didn't say a great design, just a good one.
