Harvest and Sunset

The air is still filled with a haze from the forest fires.  The particles in the air turn the sun orange.

Sunset August 30

I could complain about my itchy allergy eyes but I won’t because eye drops make them feel better…and those people closer to the fires must be struggling far worse than my itchy matter filled eyes. Just so you know Chance has eye boogers too.

The harvest continues in our area.

Grain Harvest

We are forecast to have some 90 F + temperatures this week.   I mowed the lawn yesterday and we planned meals with salads fruit and sandwiches this week. With the forecast heat I suspect that the lawn will go dormant…Far Guy says I get to have new mulching blades for the Fall leaf work…yippee…nothing better than new mulching blades!

  1. We are going to get the hot weather again here also. I feel for you with the itchy, watery eyes - not fun. Glad you are getting some new blades for your mower. I keep telly my hubby I need new blades but so far I think he's not listening. :)

  2. I've been taking allergy medication for my itchy eyes and it helps. We just finished enduring 35 hours without power, but it's back now and I'm so grateful to have my tea and my laptop with Internet back! We had a wind storm that was simply awful and about a block away we had a telephone pole right across the street.

  3. Ah yes, itchy eyes, headaches and nasal drainage are the norm here, too. I can't wait for clear skies.

You will be able to zip through the leaves with new blades. ;o)

  4. We are back to the high temps too. I am so sad. I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, but it was just so nice last week that I couldn't help myself :-/.

  6. Hot and humid here, and some smoke in the air as well. Our grandson's allergies are in high gear. Hoping for some rain to settle things down across the whole region.

  7. New mulching blades? That man is just plain spoiling you.
I see that our weather here in Massachusetts is going to take a turn for the warmer, just as it had been settling into cool nights and temperate days. Darn.

  8. I think this smoke bothers many people particularly those with current health problems. Harvest hasn't started here but it soon will.

  10. I was in Sydney Australia for the forest fires in 1994. There was so much haze in the atmosphere that the street light came on. In Sydney we were OK but in the mountains people said it was hard to breath because the fires used up all the Oxygen.
We are in Switzerland this week and it is very hot even up in the mountains. In London I think it is about 19 degrees. Not nearly warm enough for this time of year. But blame that on the jet stream which has been in the wrong place for months.

  11. With all the heat and little rain, parts of our lawn look like hay!! You lucky girl -- new mulching blades! I'm jealous.

  12. The fires are just so horrible! We need rain so desperately to stop the fires and replenish the earth!

  13. It was fall like here for a bit but now it has turned hot and very humid our usual Ontario weather this time of year lol ! Lovely photos . The sun this morning was fighting thick fog and humid air over our valley . We stop cutting our grass in the rainless weeks as it burns it I prefer a bit of a long lawn that is healthy and protected rather then a cut dying brown lawn lol ! Yup harvesting is starting here to and the leaves are also starting to fall and change ! with this humidity the crickets and Cicadas are singing like mad .Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !

  14. I'll be back in Minnesota next week and I'm really looking forward to some nice cool nights! Can't wait. Too bad about the fires but they do make for dramatic sunsets.

  15. I can't imagine breathing in all that smoky air- I'm glad it is not any worse than it is for you all. I'm patiently waiting for fall..every day I think the temperature is going to be cooler, and then..it hits 90. :(

  16. Oh , you poor dear with the itchy eyes....I get that even without the smoke and then I mess with them and sometimes end up scratching them and that makes it worse!
Yes, Fall, harvesting......and Winter comes after that...my 2 favorite seasons! It's hard to imagine though as it is in the 90's here. Good idea...salads and sandwiches.
