It turned warm and humid here again. We carve outside in the afternoons when possible, getting our vitamin D!
The Christmas ornament count stands at 43. Last week we added a new name to our list; Collins Joan is my baby brothers newest Grand, she was born a little early and will spend some time in the NICU. Her weight was good 6Ibs 11oz, but she is having problems with her oxygen levels and does not have the sucking reflex down pat yet. She was born at 34 weeks. Poor little ones have to struggle so hard outside the womb.
Next week we will start a new woodcarving class, we hope to wood carve a Trillium.
That should be an challenging/interesting class. I will put the Christmas ornaments aside for a few days. Far Guy is getting a tad burned out on the Christmas ornaments anyway…time for a break.
I have another project sitting on my desk.
This artwork has been hanging in our bathroom for many years. Time for a change. It will still be bears but it is about time that I display some of my own photos… I need one more frame…I am certain I have one upstairs someplace. Not sure if I will paint the frames a new color or not.
I am still working on my Join as you go Granny Square Afghan …I am using up many odds and ends of yarn. I work on it late at night watching television. It is very colorful!
The young dad that cuts our grass usually brings along his daughter (probably 10 or 11) and she talks about wanting to knit or crochet. She would love your granny squares. I hope you'll share your bear framed art when you complete the job. John has framed many photos from the trip he and Larry took a few years ago. It is always a good conversation piece when he has visitors. The carving class sounds fun. Praying the new baby will improve quickly. Keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteHeat and humidity are a good time to spend indoors working on projects. Since both have returned here also and walking is hard for me in that kind of weather I need to find some new projects to work on. Your Trillium looks like quite the challenge.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the trillium carving. Here it is July and you are already almost done with Christmas presents! Is FG beginning to feel better after all those infusions? I sure hope so. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas gifts will be treasured, I know. Nice to have an idea far ahead and get it done without rushing.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing trillium in our farm timber so many years ago. I need to go walk some of Iowa's trails and I bet I would see some. Memories of them in Minnesota of course meant seeing them along the roadsides. I finally finished a major frame order, dragging my feet through the whole thing. We have a photo hanging in our bath room of a photo of a Minnesota waterlily. It was taken by a dear friend of ours who use to be Dean of Women at Bethel. She is with us yet but her mind isn't with us anymore. Your new photo and frames project should be fun.
ReplyDeleteThe new carving class looks like it could be challenging, but anyone who can carve a Lady Slipper can carve a Trillium, right? Enjoy
ReplyDeleteProjects are always a thing to keep us going. I keep thinking of all things that I could change with the house. You will let the christmas decorations go and the next thing you know, it will be here. I can't wait to see our your carving comes out.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your carving. A wood trillium would be lovely! You'll have to show us the finished product.
ReplyDeleteNow if you're like me you'll have to use the same frames to cover up the old spots where they hung before or paint the wall.
ReplyDeleteHope you might share the pattern for the JAYG granny squares and the trillium should be a fun challenge!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that you have a variety of projects going. I look forward to seeing your carved flower.
ReplyDeleteThe internet is so grand! I googled Join as you go crochet Granny Squares and there is a video. Amazing! Looks like a great idea. I'm working on straight line dc for the grands.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if bears are especially dear to you or why the current pics of bears will be replaced with more of the same? Hope that little one is soon able to be home with her family.
ReplyDeleteI have bears in the bathroom...shower curtain, towels and many other decorations:)
DeleteYes, some of your own photos need to be showcased at home. You have a way with color, so I wonder how long your resolve to not repaint the frames will last ;)
ReplyDeleteLittle projects, little changes are fun. One day I'll be able to work on all those sorts of things, well I guess I can in the winter, but I'm not rushing for winter to get here! I'm impressed with your Christmas ornament count!
