a few beads

Daughter Jen brought me some garage sale beads last weekend.  60 cents worth…sorting them and oohing and aahing was the perfect project to do whilst recuperating from the horrid dental work.

Beads from Jen

  Beads sorted by color

Anyone else out there wonder how one little old tooth can leave such a huge hole in your mouth? Or is my tongue magnifying it?  It feels like a cavern with no bottom.

When I went to buy the containers for the beads, I found two…I was unsure of how many I would need. Far Guy said “You never can tell how many bead containers you will need.”

another tray of beads

I found these beads just hanging around in a box just waiting for a container….most of them are sorted by color and size….OCD is under control. ( A few were left as mixed colors on purpose.)  The urge to go buy more containers was squashed.

Good Golly no one wants to know exactly how many beads I have in this house…but I am all stocked up for a winter full of projects.  It would probably be hoarding if they were stacked to the ceiling…big boxes stacked only 5 feet high do not count.

These beads are all destined to become works of yard art….just hanging out sparkling in the sunshine.

  1. I sure hope you are feeling better. I lost a tooth that had a root canal a few years back. That seemed like the biggest hole in my head and I had trouble drinking liquid!!! Eventually got a bridge.
How nice of your daughter to get you the beads. With your brutal winters, the bead projects will be great fun. I love your yard art. Hope you, FG and Chance have a good day.

  2. Well now, sorting the beads by color just seems logical, convient, and tidy. It is also a good way to prepare for winter.

  3. Of course you sorted beads while recuperating. And I think that hole will begin to feel better soon. Hubby had a tooth pulled and it took awhile before he got used to it, and how he doesn't even think about it. :-)

  4. There is a material, cream medicine to put into the socket if it gets bad. They didn't tell me about before I left. When I returned a few days later with a lot of irritation, the dental assistant shot some of it through a syringe, no needle, and filled up the cavity. It blocks the air on the nerve endings plus I think it is a numbing material. It smells bad.

  7. Ah, you just put me in mind of a project I can do with ViMae to use up some of the beads we have stashed around here. Outdoor garden-art is the perfect project!

  12. I like to sort things and always thought I could have had a career folding clothing in a clothing store as people messed it up! Love all those colors and the bread spider for the garden.

  13. Oh, I agree with you about the tongue making things seem so much bigger and sharper than what they really are. And you can't stop your tongue from playing with that 'thing' in your mouth.....
Hmm, I have a bunch of beads here in a very similar container. All the same types of beads, but sorted by colour as are yours. Another thing to get rid of one day....but not before, because you just never know when you might need some beads!

  14. Looks just like the box I put my trout flies in for storage... Not as colorful as you beads though...:)

  15. In one's mouth small divots do feel like craters. I recently chipped a tooth and it felt like half the tooth was gone until I had it repaired.
I will want to see your completed bead projects!

  16. I can hardly wait to see what you do with the beads, the colors are fantastic and garden art that is pretty and inexpensive sounds like a great combination!

I've had teeth removed in the past and I truly can empathize...it's horribly uncomfortable until the hole heals up. Hope that happens soon.

  19. At least the tooth has gone. Things must improve from now - right? What a wonderful idea to make beady things for the garden.I might just copy that. (If you don't mind!)

  20. Ah! The sorted beads makes my OCD side happy just to look at them. ;)
Yes, I've had teeth pulled and they feel like huge holes. After a while they don't bother you except when I go to bite down on something crunchy and hit gum instead of tooth--LOL!

  21. I love all the beads. I love sorting out things like buttons and beads, but have never tried making anything with them. I'm not good at designing things like jewelry.

  22. At least beads are small....there are worse and bigger things you cold collect that would take up much more room! What a sweet daughter to bring you just what you love!
