Winter is here early…a whole six weeks early. I wonder if we get extra credit for that come spring?
The snow stick remains at 1 1/2 inches…maybe some blew away. The wind has been wicked. Not much compared to the lake effect snow in New York State recently.
The Mill Pond on Straight Lake has 6 to 8 inches of ice.
The ice is clear and you can see the bottom of the lake. Yes, that is a crack the ice cracks as it freezes.
There are a few fishermen out there.
That is ice…the snow just blew off of that portion of ice. Yes someone lost their bobber in the tree!
We went for a ride since the sun was out. We didn’t see much…a Crow…or maybe a Raven and possibly a Magpie. No turkeys…no deer.
I sorted beads…it drove my husband and other baby brother nuts watching me whilst they had coffee…they had all kinds of suggestions for me. ( A straw, then a straw with a bit of nylon stretched over it so I wouldn’t choke to death on the beads.) I ordered a mixed bag of 11,000 beads and I am sorting them. ( My other baby brother asked me if I was counting them…ha…not this time.) I sort them first to size and then to color. Just the kind of organizational thing I enjoy. I cannot help that it drives the menfolk nuts.
The bobber in the tree looks like a Christmas ornament!
ReplyDeleteI just opened my heating bill, which leaves no doubt that winter came early. Fingers crossed that the Gulf Stream meets the Polar Vortex and wins!
Pretty photos ! By Sunday here in Ontario it is to hit a high of +8 and rain then by Wed hit +9 flooding will be the next weather issue . Thanks for sharing , Have a good weekend !
ReplyDeleteNow this is what I call a "Winter". Remember my ice days last week....now it will be back in the high 70's over the week end.
ReplyDeleteI dread opening my heating bill. Winter certainly has come too early. The Weather Gurus say it will warm up this weekend and rain. Great then it can freeze and I will have a skating rink for a driveway. Guess this is going to be the norm for us - snow then rain then snow. Have a great weekend. Just don't choke on those beads.
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks so cold. I always enjoy your snow stick. I remember one year John and I sent you a photo of OUR snow stick!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to think that we messed up the calendar somehow but no one wants to admit it. I got gypped (sp?) of my Fall when I wash the car and the windows and clean out the garage and paint......nothing got done. I started caulking and before I could go get another tube it was too cold to caulk.
ReplyDeleteIt's supposed to warm up and I must admit it was nicer yesterday but I've got tired of waiting and now I'm onto other projects and then there's Christmas and Thanksgiving looming on the horizon.
Yes, I love snow but even I have to admit that NY got a scary amount. When people are dying and roofs are caving in then it's a dangerous amount and way beyond my definition of "cozy". Stay warm and dry.
Oh, as for the guys and your bead talent for sorting and organizing...they're just jealous....they've never really gotten over the fact that we can have babies and they can't. LOL!
I have been simply stunned by the pictures from Buffalo, NY. Your snow stick would have been buried. And now they are worried about a quick warm up heading their way that will cause flooding! A couple inches seems much more civilized to me. :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope we get credit and interest too!! (like Spring comes 7 or 8 weeks early).
ReplyDeleteOkay, I will not grouse to myself as I go out in the cold this morning to buy all the food for Thanksgiving. At least I'm doing it in a snow-free landscape.
ReplyDelete11000 beads seems overwhelming. I think it would drive me nuts too. ;)
ReplyDeleteI am sure hoping you get credit in the Spring, but darn it, it doesn't usually work that way!:) On the bright side, just be glad you don't live in Buffalo.
ReplyDeleteI wish we got credit for an early winter, like an early spring ;) We are supposed to get almost 60 degrees on Monday. I think Mother Nature likes to throw us curve balls :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the lake is iced up already! Usually that's not until January? Somehow I doubt winter will leave two months ahead of time for you. As for Texas, we really don't want it to get so hot already in April!
ReplyDeleteEvening, yup, winter is here too... The lake iced up all ready wow, Red River is not.Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteThat much ice already means you have had some very cold weather!
ReplyDeleteSorting 11,000 beads! Oh, my. I think I'm with the guys on this one.
Sorting beads sounds like it is a great winter activity… that may take all winter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful winter day!
Let's hope that "extra credit" pays off for you, come spring. You'll really need it by then.
ReplyDeleteI like to sort like that also...makes me feel peaceful!
