I have an old photo of Far Guy’s Dad. He worked in the south in the late 1930’s. This photo was most likely taken then.
To put things in context, Far Guy’s Dad was 6 feet tall and he is the one wearing the suspenders and the tie.
I have always wondered who the big guy was and how tall he was.
Oh my goodness! What a big guy! I love those old pictures. I enjoyed your post on lasagna. A laugh is good early in the morning. I love those cheeses...any kind!

ReplyDeleteReminds me of the fellow in the "Green Mile" with Tom Hanks! Love those old pictures, but my husband also has lots with no names to identify the people.

ReplyDeleteHe sure is a tall dude!! Betting over 7 feet tall. I think if he was the least bit coordinated and born a generation later, he would be recruited by the NFL!!!
ReplyDeleteOn another note, as I go through all the old photos I have, I am thinking about 'borrowing' your idea of posting some of those old photos on my blog. I regularly have my blog made into book form, and it will help my grandkids know their roots.

Wonderful photo and story ! Back in those days here farmers were shorter under six feet and it was a rare thing and people made jokes for one to be tall in any farming family . Thanks for sharing , have a good day !
ReplyDeleteMy uncles were all tall like Far Guy's dad but that manon his left has got to be 7 foot tall! I went to school with a guy who was just over 7 foot tall. We called him the Jolly Green Giant because he was such a gentle giant and the star of our basketball team for sure. Unfortunately being that tall does not always come with gracefulness. He tripped a lot on the basketball floor. But he was the nicest guy you's ever want to meet. Now that I'm older I hope he understood that his name was a term of endearment. We were all friends as it was a small school. The tal lman in the picture looks like a gentle giant too.
