Bubble Lights

Far Guy has a set of Bubble Lights.  He remembers them from Christmas Trees when he was a child.  We did not put them on our tree..instead we put them with some fake garland around his carousel horses.IMG_3813

I tried hard to photograph the bubbles..they are quite mesmerizing.

We are almost done shopping.  We made one last ditch effort in town and online. I wanted to be all done by Tuesday..and it looks like we just might make it! The roads are good for driving but every sidewalk and parking lot is an ice rink after the freezing rain. The stores were not real busy..some football game was on. We didn’t even have to wait in line to pay for our purchases.

We took some time out yesterday after shopping to do a little Sunday visiting..just like in the olden days:)

  4. Ohhhh, I remember bubble lights, my parents had them on our tree. Yes, they are mesmerizing. My Christmas preparations, except for some last minute cookies are done. No snow or ice here yet, just rain. Hoping the big storm headed this way passes us by.

  9. The Christmas Store at Crown Center carried bubble lights but I have not see a store carry them since I bought mine a few years back. I have memories of the one set my parents had but the wiring on them looked scary. I do remember seeing them in a country school and one could hear a tinkling sound as they had something inside of them to cause that sound. The bubbles really are fascinating.

  11. I gave all my bubble lights to my son...he used to sit for hours just staring at the lights, then I would find him sleeping under the tree. I thought he would enjoy them now as an adult.

Sunday visits....I had forgotten about them. They are nice!

  12. We never had bubble lights, but Mr. Dreamy did and I remember them on this parent's tree when we dated. They also had the snowball lights.... again, not in our family - no, our family was all about plain Jane lights!
I had a mild panic attack last night concerning what the date was and what I have to get accomplished by the 25th... and we are supposed to leave town on the 27th! Yikes! I got up and made lists, which stopped the heart from pounding, and then went back to bed! In a bit I'm off to see Dad and then do some shopping.

  15. The first set of lights my Dad ever bought were bubble lights. He didn't have a Christmas tree so he nailed a slat across the windows and mounted his precious lights. We used to watch these lights a whole lot. I wonder where his lights are now?
