The shoes were all over in the tree. Some had rotten laces and littered the ground. There were all kinds of shoes and boots and slippers.
These county crossroads near Milltown Indiana are the place to stop to see the Shoe Tree. It is one of those narrow roads out in the country where they don’t even mark the center of the road..where there is barely room for two vehicle to meet.
This is the original Shoe Tree..it was on the South East corner of the crossroads..it was hit by lightening and most of the tree burned down along with a fair amount of shoes.
Someone started a new collection just across the road. I didn’t have a pair of Crocs to donate..but maybe someday..Crocs last practically forever you know:)

When I was a kid and visited Six Flags Over Ga amusement park, there was a pole with everyone's chewed chewing gum on it! Yuk!
I have seen a shoe tree that was made from a shoe found here and there on the street's. I have never had a pair of Crocs what could I have been missing?

ReplyDeleteThere is a yard in a nearby town that has a mug tree. All kinds of mugs completely cover the huge tree. I wonder how they keep from freezing and breaking.
Quirky little displays like this always provoke an interest. Like good art , it makes you think. I've also seen miles of fence posts with boots on the top.

Doesn't shoe tossing mean something? I just looked up "shoe tree" and discovered that there are 75 of them right now in the US! :-)
