Autumnal Equinox

That is the big happening today..somewhere around 9:49 AM our time.   That means Fall has arrived.  We will lose two minutes plus of sunlight every day now…sunsets happen faster than in the summer and twilight seems non existent.

The trees are changing fast.

The Maples are the trees that bring the  brilliant orange color to our area of Minnesota.

I am not sure that the color will hold another week..it is not quite prime color yet..but very soon.

  1. We have trees turning around here, too, but I haven't seen any that look as brilliant as that one! Happy Fall to you! :-)

  4. When did this happen, how did Autumn sneak up on us? It's still stinking hot here, every day, until when? The snow flies?

Do I sound like a woman in denial? Our trees have just started to turn slightly and that's down by the lake.

Up here on the mountain, things are moving slower, that's a good thing. I'm so in denial that all the comments saying it's going to snow here make me giggle in disbelief. Really, that's not going to happen is it?

  7. The colors are beautiful. The trees here in Kentucky are drab looking no color to speak of. Your first snow flake I'am guessing will be around Oct 14th. We get the hated ice I keep hoping i don;t fall. Have a great weekend

  8. I just pinned your barn pic of today. Hope that is ok with you. I love old barns and some new ones too and have a special page for Barns on Pinterest. Then I made that pic my background pic on my computer. Yes I love old barns. I grew up on a farm here in Kansas many years ago in the 30's and 40's. Have you checked out he Pinterest site. It is a lot of fun and a "great" time killer. (read:waste of time?)

  9. Happy first day of fall. Enjoy that color! I need to get outside for at least a few minutes every day, both to take in the changes in nature and to fight my Seasonal Affect Disorder.
