I have four days off in a row. Chance and I have already wasted one day..I slept late and then we went visiting and took a few photos. Got to get in some camera time!
One of Far Guy’s cousins has some beautiful flowers. She was watering when we got there..but we still managed a few photos of some of the plants that we used to grow.
This is Tithonia Fiesta Del Sol. Often times it is called Mexican sunflower. The Monarch butterflies love this plant.
I smiled when I found this Tobacco behind the Cleome at the far edge of one garden. We used to grow Tobacco every year..it was one of those plants you could almost watch grow when the weather turns hot and humid.
Here is a pretty plant that grows in the form of a small tree.
I had no idea what it was..it is a tropical plant called Duranta erecta or Golden Dewdrops or Skyflower. Beautiful..but all parts are toxic to children and pets. Not something I would want in my yard.
I can feel in the air that the flowers will be gone soon..it was 39 degrees F last night ( 3 degrees C). That is a tad chilly for this time of year:(
Good Morning, Wow - that is chilly! These are such pretty flowers. I'm not familiar with the last one, but the color is really nice. Enjoy your time off and big hug to Chance!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! Hope you have a wonderful time on your days off, rest, rest, rest, FUN!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos ! Yup fall is in the air here to . The nights have dropped and the mornings are cool and dewy now . Some of our fall birds have returned already even some leave are changing ! I like the cooler fall weather . Enjoy your time off and have a great day !
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for our fall weather to begin. It was 88 degrees here again yesterday. Way too hot for the Pacific Northwest! 39 degrees is really cold! From super hot to super cold, it seems. Love your flower pictures, taken with your new camera, I'll bet.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. I've certainly been feeling a little fall in the air here too. I'm ready.
ReplyDeleteBrrrrr on 39 degrees in the middle of August!!! I love the Mexican Sunflower. I thought in was a Zinnia - - - but it is possibly related to that family? I know Chance enjoyed leisure with you.
ReplyDeleteCan well imagine the butterflies love that sunflower as it is so brilliant. Do enjoy these days off - goof around and play with the new camera and Chance, and maybe FG, too? Had to shut the window early this am; I was (happily) frozen! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the sunflower it is such a pretty color! Glad you are getting some camera time in and sharing with us
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you do the conversion, after all I am thinking to myself yes 39 is pretty warm out for the day, what's with that? Oh 3 C...oh my, 3 C did you have frost?
ReplyDeleteI think you are going to win the snow ball trophy this year, at least I hope it's not going to be us.

Every morning we are waking up to cooler and cooler temperatures...not real August like at all. More like late September. We had to go to Grand Mesa to check out Mom and Dad's 'lake' up there and it must be freezing...lots of signs of it anyway.

That last flower sure is unusual and pretty, but you are right...wouldn't want a hazard like that in my yard, no matter how beautiful. But it makes a pretty picture :)
ReplyDeleteHard to think of 39 so early here-- we have been so dry some of our trees are changing their color. But the days are getting shorter. Guess you have a short fall.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information about Tithonia--I've made a note to check it out for next spring. I love the cooler nights, but 39 (or even 49 as we've had) is a little too chilly for my taste. Guess it's time to get used to the idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had four days off and you took time to photograph some flowers.
ReplyDeleteI had to stop by when I saw your flower peeking out at me on my blog list. Beautiful as always, Connie! Thanks for that.
ReplyDeleteJust had to correct the typo in that earlier comment. :)
DeleteOh, that is chilly. We've got a heatwave here!
ReplyDeleteYour pics are beautiful - have you taken them with your new camera?
The flowers look great. The tobacco doesn't look like it will be blooming. I like the color of the bottom flowers. They remind be of African violet blooms.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing great with your new camera but then I always thought you took good pictures. Interesting flowers and I love the Mexican Sunflower. $ days off? W hat will you do with it all! LOL!
