Hiya! It is me Chance the Border Collie with a swimming report!
We were at the lake, they took my fancy smancy orange life jacket along. “It was time to sink or swim.”
Far Guy took me out, that stupid jacket has a handle..ya know there is no escape.
Far Guy took me out in the deeper water. He held my chin out of the water. I was scared. He encouraged me to swim “Good boy, good boy!”
We practiced over and over..I can swim. I am not so sure I like to swim..I like the water but I like to have all four of my feet on the lake bottom. Anyways, now we can go out kayaking together and Far Side doesn’t have to worry about both of us drowning because I can swim!
Little Elvis went swimming too!
Noah and Little Elvis. Noah always carries Little Elvis out and then gently lets him go in the water.
Miney borrowed my life jacket.
Miney does a real vigorous dog paddle splashing water all over.
The next time we “Go Swimming” they hope that I take off from shore all by myself. I am taking that concept under consideration:)
What a wonderful job! Now you can save people like Lassie and all those famous dogs. Oops, I forgot, Chance, you are famous and I'm very proud of you.
ReplyDeleteHi Chance,
ReplyDeleteNitty and Annie here. Wow! You did great with your life jacket. You look like one of those rescue dogs with that thing on! Very professional looking. There are lots of people here on our lake that boat and take their dogs on the boat and many wear those life jackets. It's actually a good thing that people are taking our safety into consideration and making things like that life jacket for us. You look like a hero in it! Were Miney and Elvis wearing them too? I couldn't tell for all the splashing! LOL! Enjoy the water!
What fun! You will have a great time out there, Chance. Lucky you that you have parents who love you enough to make you safe all the time! :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Chance, there are fish in there. I bet you could herd them!
ReplyDeleteWe had a Golden Retriever who couldn't swim! We had to give him lessons, too! He also loved to stick his head underwater in our fishpond and chase the fish!
Great post Chance! Was it fun in the water?
ReplyDeleteGood for you Chance! It takes real bravery to conquer a fear...I know, I've yet to do it!
ReplyDeleteHey Chance, Reba and Tess here; now that you can swim, maybe Far Guy will get some sticks to throw in the water for you. That's our favorite game and a great way to cool off on those hot summer days!
ReplyDeleteHi Chance, Good for you! You and Far Guy will have a great time in the kayak, now!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a good game of ball fetching will gradually get you going farther into the lake? Our two border collies only swim if there is something to fetch, although they will both lay in shallow water if they are really hot. Calli, being a retriever, will just walk in and start dog paddling around.
ReplyDeleteChance, you always look so handsome...even in your orange and black life jacket! And now you are set for summer. :)
ReplyDeleteOscar says swimming is the best thing on earth!
ReplyDeleteNotshy LOVES to swim.....Kits is like you and prefers to have all four feet in the mud.
ReplyDeleteChance, great post, so if you don't have the life jacket on, will you be able to swim still?
ReplyDeleteJen @ Muddy Boot Dreams
I bet it felt good to cool off!
ReplyDeleteBoomer and I like to have four feet (er two feet in my case) in the mud...Fuzzy, now, HE ADORES SWIMMING!!!

Great job, Chance! Now you can go with in the kayak! I hope when you saw the other dogs swim that maybe it wasn't quite as scary? Good Boy!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, a good job of learning to swim even though border collies aren't swimmers as a rule.
ReplyDeleteIf you get tired of swimming, just catch some current and go 'tubing' for a while!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo Chance! Sterling is about as thrilled as you were! Just sayin.
ReplyDeleteHooray for Chance! Now that you are swimming don't turn into a diving beetle!
ReplyDeleteToo fun! Iris says she's with Chance. "I guess...if I have to" ;-).
ReplyDeleteJust got back from town - first time in over a week - and left your box sitting on the table. Argh. The heat is making me stupid(er).
