Eighth Grade Graduation

On Wednesday morning Madison graduated from the eighth grade.  She attended a parochial school and next fall she will enter the public school system.

We were invited after the service to a wonderful brunch.  The kids decided on the menu.  Fruit, bacon, a waffle, hash browns, scrambled eggs, cinnamon and caramel rolls. It was delicious.

Maddie is not as tall as her mother.  Maddie had four inch heels on..and her feet were sore.  She was quickly off to an afternoon of fun with her classmates.

Maddie had a good year.  She had some ups and down especially in Mathematics.  Mathematics is really hard for her…but she struggled through.  We are very proud of her.

She is a little apprehensive about entering High School in the Fall..she will know a few kids from Hockey, and her 20 classmates from St. Phillips..but she still has a fear that she will be in a class where she won’t know anyone.  Most likely a typical fear for a fourteen year old.

I had the day off..part of my two days off every month.  After the doings we stopped by a few antique shops :)

    I had forgotten about the fear of entering a new school and not knowing anyone. As a military dependent, we did that all the time, and I at first had butterflies thinking about it but did it often enough I learned how to cope. She's wearing four-inch heels? I haven't worn them in so long my feet would be sore, too! :-)

    Congratulations to Maddie! I also graduated eighth grade from a parochial school and was terrified about going to high school. Tell her that everything will be okay and butterflies are normal. It wasn't as bad as I had imagined.

    Congratulations, to Maddie. Over the summer, she will develop a sense of confidence. Tell her that anyone who can play hockey with such dedication and fearlessness can handle anything high school throws at her. ;oD

    Congrats to the grad!! Having been an eighth-grade teacher, I understand the trepidation, but within two weeks, she'll have great friends (old and new) and will wonder why she ever feared it!

    I have always struggled with math. She is sure a little cutie pie.

    The grandchildren grow up so fast, high school should be the best time of Maddie's life. Was it true for you? Hope you are all well now and how is Far guy doing? Is he still pain free? We need a up date.

    Congratulations to Madison on her graduation! Sounds like it was a lovely affair. I love how private schools make the entire event so much more special. Too bad she couldn't attend a private high school...I know that our St. Mary's high school is the place to be for our town's movers and shakers...a real network builder for decades to come!

    How pretty both your girls are there. I wish Maddie well in public school. I'm sure it will be an adjustment but she's ready. Plus she has her Mom and you to be the wind beneath her wings. Aw... gosh... too corny!!

    She's beautiful AND she plays hockey. Those are two great starting points and I'll bet she has lots more assets that will serve her well. As Muffie said, after a couple of weeks she'll have friends both old and new.
