Old Wagon Wheel

You know how sometimes you just feel like an old wheel..wooden with a metal trimmed hub..old..partly rotten, a bit rickety, it used to move along swiftly but it is turning slower and slower whilst the world turns faster and faster..and you just want to holler “Stop the world..right now..I just have to get off for a bit and catch up..rest up.. so I can hop back on again?”

That is me right now..I will be just fine..just wallowing in a bit of self pity because there is not enough of me to go around at the moment.

So I am going to be like this old wagon wheel and rest against the grain bin for awhile..I am not answering the fricking phone until I get a few moments to catch my breath.IMG_8639

If someone has a crisis..mail me a letter:)

  5. Right there with you. Some days I just wish I could lay in a pasture and look up at the sky all day - just like an old wagon wheel someone discarded.

  6. I do think that our world comes at us too fast - instant messaging, cell phones, email... all in an instant. Would things fall apart if life went back into the slow lane? I don't think so! Your post is 'spot on'!!

  7. Sometimes you gotta just hop off the wagon and stroll along. Certainly don't beat yourself up for that! We are women, notorious for overextending ourselves. BTW that is a very nicely composed picture. I love it!

  9. I agree - sometimes you've just got to rest. Preferably in your jammies!

  11. Yep, don't answer the phone, you can pretend you were out for the day. Get back to those calls when you've had time to think about them and when you feel like answering them. We are mostly letting calls go to the answering machine these days.

  12. Sometimes you do have to stop the world 'cause you want to get off. The wise thing is knowing when to do it. Now get some rest.

  13. If anyone deserves a rest it is you. You are meeting yourself coming and going with all those projects of yours, your family, and the museum. You need a nice vacation away from it all.

  14. I think I have a couple of broken spokes.

  17. Yes, we sometimes just take the phone off the hook for a couple of hours, even over meal times, just to keep the outsiders from intruding.

  18. I think we have all been there at some point... an old wheel that has hit a few pot holes for me. We're tough. We'll get over it.

  19. I also experience overwhelming feelings that I can't control. I unfortunately tend to just STOP doing when this happens and I have to regroup. I hate when it happens because I begin to feel bad. I say take your time and do whatever you feel like. It sucks being pulled in different directions. Hey it's OK to sit by the old wheel. Do it and feel better. Hope you feel better soon.

  20. After all the work you've gotten done in the last few months, you deserve a good rest. And do something that makes you feel pampered...whether it's scented candles or ice cream or playing solitaire or...whatever!

  21. You have perfectly described an all too common state of being. I wish I could find a way to pull over and take a time out.

  22. Connie, so many of us share similar feelngs of being run down, stretched too far, burnt out and not even from the working world, cause I am retired! The important thing is to stop and realize, maybe shout, and then take a greak...you go ahead and do that!

  23. I know the feeling - - - I am taking a day of vacation on Thursday and then one in two more weeks -- - and what do I have planned for those days - - - contractors, car to the mechanic, etc. etc. Praise God for almost enough energy to do it all. It makes we want to take two thyroid pills some days - - - but don't have any extras!!! And of course, that much is not prescribed. Hang in there and hope you get rested and revived!

  24. I'm sure you don't want the rest of the old wagon wheel because that's game over. It would be nice to get a break. Maybe more than just not answering the phone.
By the way a super shot of the old wagon wheel. I have a certain nostalgia for the old wheels as I traveled many miles on them. they weren't fun.

  27. Mmmmm do I need to share my vit. D? Though I must admit, feeling slightly better, but it hasn't done much for my desire to do much extra or deal with other's needs. Bet and I went through town and out the other side yesterday to get lime, rock phosphate and fish bone meal and some flat inserts at another place in the big valley that used to be agricultural and now is warehousial. Had to deal with humans face to face. It was enough for me thanks. In fact I was supposed to go on Tuesday but I just couldn't seem to make it to the car. Started feeling suffocated. I sure hope you fix your wagon wheel issue soon. Today I'm going to nap in the seat of my tractor, hope you have gotten your rest!

  29. Good for you! If more people would quit "over doing" there wouldn't be so many cranky people out there. It's like a rubber band...you can only stretch it so far before it snaps and hurts someone either themselves or the people around them. There's only one YOU so take care of her!

  30. P.S. Not that I get many calls anymore but I have a phone I got at Wal-Mart that has an answering machine but also a DO NOT DISTURB button so you don't hear it ring and you don't hear them leaving a message but it will and when you're ready to face the world again you can check your messages.
