Quilt Squares

Well the past 15 days of lollygagging sure did go by fast.  I made another list of things to do before March 1st.  It is a long list..I hope I have not defeated myself before I begin.

The quilt square for “Cousins” is coming along.  Jen grabbed it over the weekend and stitched away on the bird.
Jen worked on the bird
I reminded myself that Nancy at Wyoming Breezes makes Quilts of Valor..and I said I would try to send her a couple of quilt squares.  I will get into my stash and see what kinds of red, white and blue fabrics I have to work with and then wash them up…and then figure out a simple pattern that I can do.  I have some old quilt patterns someplace.  Perhaps there are more of you that want to join in! If so pop over to Nancy’s and get the details.
That will be enough sewing for this non sewing person for the winter. I can sew..but it is not one of my talents and I do not enjoy it like some people do.  If someone said “Take the whole day off to sew.”  I would be bored and most likely get so sleepy I would need an extended nap.
My progress is slow
That is what happens with the Cross Stitching..I stitch and I get sleepy. So progress is slow..I still have a few more days.  Tuesday noon is the deadline..I am not sure what happens if you are late with your square..but I would just as soon get it out of my hair and crossed off my list:)

    1. Pretty patern ! I am not a crafter either , I enjoy photography I guess in a way that could be considered a craft lol . I get sleepy when reading a book thats why it takes me a long time to finish one ! Have a great day !

  2. Nice! Looking forward to the finish! Fifteen days can most certainly fly by, working on lists or lollygaggin'.

  3. Its going to be really pretty when you finish. Reading makes me doze off, no matter how good the book is. But give me a sewing machine, and I'm in heaven!!

  4. Cross stitching - oh when I had the time to do that! Did a lot of it back in the day but yes, it can do to me what you found as will reading a book. Keep at it though it will be done before you know it.

  5. I understand about stitching and nodding off! It seems I do that in the evening regardless of what I'm doing; watching TV, reading, knitting.... my body just says, "It is time to go to bed... now!"

  6. Maybe that's my problem! I used to cross stitch a lot more when I was younger. Between the bad eyes and the tendency to need a nap, I'm defeated before I even start!
Good luck on getting it done. It's very pretty so far.

  8. Thank you for the shout-out about the Quilt of Valor blocks. I appreciate it. The blocks need to be 12.5 unfinished, so that they will finish at 12 inches. Simple blocks like a "Rail Fence" or a "Nine-Patch" are perfect for this. Other block ideas are "Ohio Star" or "Churn Dash". A good source of free quilt block patterns is here: http://www.myquiltgenie.com/index.php or here: http://www.quiltbus.com/Free-Quilt-Blocks.htm

Your cross-stitch blocks are going to be beautiful.

  12. It's pretty already. It will be even nicer when done. Cross stitching does the opposite to me. It makes me tense. I think it's the intense concentration I put into it. I have to stop and make myself relax. (I left you a reply on my post)

  13. I haven't cross stitched in years. I used to love it but now I can't see the squares. Sounds like it will be a beautiful quilt. I looked at some of the quilts on the website and they are awesome and for a great cause too.

  16. I love what you have done.....sweet bird.....hope you will show it finished.

Can't do stitching anymore because of the vision, but I still love to crochet. Can still feel where the needle goes.....and it doesn't put me to sleep, oddly enough.

  19. Looking very pretty. Once it is done, nobody knows whether it took a short time or a long time, right? ;) At least that is what I have to keep telling myself these days--LOL! You need more lollygagging time before spring hits and the museum takes over again. :)
