Chance: Just Ducky!

Hello!  It is me Chance!  The Border Collie you know and love.

Guess what I got for Christmas?   I got two things.

Give up?  The first thing is a work in progress..it is a bright orange life jacket especially for dogs.

Chance in his life jacket

Far Guy puts it on me in the kitchen and then has Far Side holler for me to come.  So I do…reluctantly.  The first time I had it on..I just laid down and pretended I couldn’t get back up..the darn thing has a handle and wouldn’t ya know it Far Side grabbed the handle and raised me right on up.  The life jacket is to keep me from drowning when I go kayaking with Far Guy. It was another one of Far Sides fantabulous ideas.

My other present was  a new duck!

I got a new duck for Christmas

I still have my old duck..Far Side says it is pathetic looking without legs.

Chance is liking his new duck

I like them both..and sometimes I hide them down in the couch so no one else will play with them:)

  5. Love your new life jacket Chance! Now no one will worry about you when you're with them out on the big water! Do hide ducky too good, you might forget where they're at?!?!

  6. As for life jacket....Sterling says to tell you he feels your pain! But it is oh so much easier to swim with it!

  7. Tucker can't figure out why you'd need a life vest while yakking. He says that he yaks all the time (in fact, he's out on the porch yakking at the birds or bunnies or some sort of beasties) and he's never felt the need of something to keep him safe!

    Love your new ducky!

  8. Jake says he knows how you feel. He would barely move the first time I put a dog coat on him. He'd be happy to help you play with your duck though!

  9. Duke says he loves your duck! The life vest, not so much, but he understands the necessity.

  10. Hi Chance:
That is a good looking new duck you have there. What is it about ducks that you like so much? Is it the color, the legs - or what? Do you like other stuffed animals just as much as ducks? Enquiring minds want to know.

I am glad that you have a life vest now. One can't be too careful when on the water.

  12. I am glad you are getting use to the life preserver. It is a good idea and you won't have to worry about getting out of the water, instant elevator lift by dad.

  13. Chance, don't let my dogs see your duck, they are terrible about tearing up stuffed toys. The first thing that goes are the eyes, and then I find stuffing all over the house.

  14. Chance, I like your life vest and ducks. You look a lot happier with the ducks though!!!

My niece took her dog to the beach with her last week and tried the booties on him to protect from the sand. He looked a lot like Chance is acting in the life vest!!!

  15. Yes, we do love you Chance. What's not to love. You are smart, loyal, handsome, and a great blogger. Doesn't get much better than that - well all except that little duck mishap thing. But hey, we are entitled to one mistake in life.

  16. My Little Buddy would love to play with you Chance. You need that life vest and it's so good of your papa to make it for you. Maybe you should make money and sell them.

  17. Neat. Reminds of the time I encourage my GSD puppy into the deep water. Mrs T (on shore) yelled he doen't know how to swim yet. My reponse was ... he surely knows the dog paddle. :)

  18. Those ducks wouldn't last fifteen minutes with Latte. I applaud your restraint.

  19. Darn! That lying down thing and pretending you cannot possibly get back up usually puts a big crimp in their plans. Bummer that it has a handle. But the handle will come in very handy if you ever did fall into the lake.

Sorry, Chance, but I laughed and laughed when I saw your old duck. I know you still love it and will guard it well but it is a mere shadow of its former self. LOL! I can tell you love them both. :):)

  21. So glad you will be protected while kayaking. Also glad you got a new duck....just in case something happens to old duck. Not that it will for a very long time - did'nt mean to alarm you.

  22. Amy says she is jealous of your duck but not of your life jacket.

  23. Oh Chance - you'll need that lifejacket when you go kayaking! Love your duckie.

  24. Boo tried that trick of laying down whenever we put the harness on him. Good thing we have laminate floors here, so he could't dig in and not let go.

Chance you look good, and I bet Far Side will breath a sigh of relief at not having to worry about you falling overboard. Good idea.

  25. Hooray - - our favorite Border Collie will not drown this summer!!! In fact, you might find you enjoy just floating around in the water while letting the life jacket keep you afloat!
